Let
us be filled with the Holy Spirit.

(NIV Act 2: 44-47)

After
the ascend of Jesus, He sent the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost as He
had promised. As the disciples and the people received the Holy Spirit, they
were totally changed. The 11 disciples (except Judas Iscariot) stood and
started to speak about Jesus.
4
It
was a miracle that the disciples could speak the different dialects which
every person could understand in their own language. This is called speaking
in tongues in the Bible. When the Holy Spirit comes upon us, we can
experience the miracles.
5
However,
there were people who spoke ill of the disciples. ¡®They were too much drunk.¡±
They made fun of the disciples and said that they were drunk.
6
But
the disciples delivered the Word of God in spite of the people¡¯s
misunderstanding. ¡°Brothers and sisters, we are going to explain what is
happening to us. It is only 9 am in the morning, it doesn¡¯t make sense that
we are drunk.¡±

A
Long time ago a prophet Joel prophesied. ¡°And afterward, I will pour out my
Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men
will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. And everyone who calls on
the name of the Lord will be saved.¡± This prophesy had happened to the
disciples. The Spirit that Joel mentioned is the Holy Spirit.
8
Peter
said, ¡°Probably you know Jesus the Nazarene. He performed many miracles. And
He died on the cross by wicked men. But He was resurrected in God¡¯s plan.¡±
9
¡°The
person whom you crucified was the Messiah and a Son of God.¡± The people were
troubled by pangs of conscience. Peter¡¯s sermon had power.
10
They
asked Peter. ¡°What can we do?¡± They regretted their wrong doing.
11
Peter
told them. ¡°Repent and be baptized with the Name of Jesus. Then your sins
will be forgiven and you will receive the Holy Spirit. This is a grace which
was given to everyone.¡±
12
The
people who opened their heart through Peter¡¯s sermon were baptized. On that
day, there were 3,000 people converted to Jesus. When the Holy Spirit came
upon Peter, he became a powerful servant even though he had denied Jesus
before.
13
From
that day, the people learned from the apostles, had a wonderful fellowship
and shared bread. They practiced the love of Jesus.
14
They
saw the living God through the miracles of the apostles. They had everything
common, sold their possessions and goods and gave anyone as he had need.
15
Every
day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in
their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and
enjoying the favor of all the people.
16
And
the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Let¡¯s be
filled with the Holy Spirit so we can help our friends and share Jesus¡¯ love.
