Timothy inheriting the faith from his mother

2 Timothy1:5 [NIV]
I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

There was a mother praying for an infant nestling in its mother’s breast. She let the baby hear God’s Word every day in order to raise him in the true faith before God. The mother was named Eunice and this baby, Timothy.

“Grandma, Grandma, whose story are you going to narrate today?” Sitting on his grandma’s lap, Timothy was fond of hearing a story of somebody in the bible.

His mother also did not neglect her duty to read the bible for Timothy every day. “Which story in the bible am I going to read to Timothy today?”

Eunice trained her son, Timothy, to read the bible a lot. “Timothy, do not neglect to read the bible. In the bible, there are all ways for you to be well.”

Timothy did not neglect to read the bible. In his free time, he showed great diligence in his reading God’s Word. For this sight of Timothy, his grandma and his mother rejoiced. They expected him to be a real noble person before God.

Reading Old Testament, Timothy did not know who the Savior described by Old Testament was. “Who is the Savior described by the Bible? Have he already come to this earth?”

One day, Timothy, his mother and his grandmother went to synagogue to listen God’s Word where a special preacher would come and deliver sermons. The man who preached God’s Word was Paul. As they listened to him, they realized that Jesus had came this earth, had crucified for us and have risen from the dead in three days, and He is Messiah who got a mention in the bible.

Timothy received Jesus and believed in Him whom he had been waiting for the real Messiah reading bible. Timothy realized the Messiah whom he had been waiting for, reading bible everyday is Jesus in his mind. He received and believed in Him. His grandma and mother had the same mind.

From that, Timothy became a disciple of Jesus and youth being praised by many people.

The youth, Timothy, was closely associated with Paul in preaching God’s Word. They were the fervent evangelist of the Word of God going around.

Later, Timothy became a great preacher preaching gospel to many people. Paul loved him enough to call Timothy, who loved God with faith, his true son.

The discipline of his grandmother and his mother, who had been hard to teach God’s word and had let him live in the belief, made Timothy a good evangelist. Like this, the role of parents is importance for us in order to be good people.

It is Mother’s Day today. You should have the obligation to your parents. You have to thank God to come into the inheritance of faith than any other things. Bless you, the children, to have better faith like Timothy.

If your parents do not yet believe in Jesus, you today specially pray for them to believe in Jesus and go heaven with you. As you became the believers of Jesus first, you have to so respect your parents that they can meet Jesus.
