The
Parable of the Ten Minas
2
"The first one came
and said, 'Sir, your mina has earned ten more.'
"'Well done, my
good servant!' his master replied. 'Because you have been trustworthy in a
very small matter, take charge of ten cities.' "The second came
and said, 'Sir, your mina has earned five more.'"His master
answered, 'You take charge of five cities.¡¯ [Luke 19:16~19]

A man of noble birth lived in a place.
He had a lot of property and ten slaves.
4
One day, he heard the news that he was appointed king.
However, he would have to go to a distant country for some
time.
5
Before his leaving, he called ten of his servants,
"I will go to a distant country to become king.
So I will give you an even share today."
6
And he gave each one a mina. A mina was a lot of money.
"Put this money to work until I come back."
7
After his leaving, the
servants who hated him, sent a delegation after him
to say, 'We don't want
this man to be our king.'
8
But in spite of their opposition, the nobleman had come
back as the appointed king.
9
The nobleman sent for the ten servants to whom he had given
the money, in order to find out what they had gained
with it. And
he asked the first servant, "What have you done with the mina that I
gave you?"
10
The first one gladly
came and said, 'Sir, your mina has earned ten more.
Here are the ten
minas."
This servant had worked
very hard so that he earned ten times, more.
11
The king was so glad and told him, "Well done, my good
servant. Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take
charge of ten cities." The first servant became a ruler of ten cities.
12
The second one came and said, "Sir, your mina has earned five more."
The second one also worked hard that he earned five times
more according to the king's order.
13
The king/master said to the second one, "Well done, my
good servant. Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take
charge of five cities." The second servant became a ruler over five
cities.
14
The third one came and
said, 'Sir, here is your mina; I have kept it laid away in a piece of cloth.
I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did
not put in and reap what you did not sow.'
15
His master replied,
"Why then didn't you put my money on deposit, so that when I came back, I
could have collected it with interest?
Take his mina away from
him and give it to the one who has ten minas.'
16
He replied, 'I tell you
that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has
nothing, even what he has will be taken away. The third one's mina was taken
away.
17
But those enemies of
mine who did not want me to be king over them--bring them here and kill them
in front of me.'"
So they were killed.
18
Jesus told his own story. Jesus died on the cross for us
and rose again and went to heaven. That is the same as the master who went to
a distant country.
19
Jesus will come back soon on the earth as the king of
judgment.
Then all that the people have done for Jesus while living
on the earth will be judged by Jesus.Jesus will give a big prize to the
people who have lived as God's word says like the first and the second
servants had done. Jesus will punish the people who have not done as God's
words like the servant with the one mina and the people who opposed for the
master to be the king.
20
Therefore, while we are waiting for the second coming of
Jesus, we should practice following all of God's words.
Also, we should bear lots of fruit for God like the
servants who earned five to ten more minas.
