Let¡¯s
be Wise Servants Waiting for Jesus¡¯ Return
2
You also must be ready, because the
Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him." [Luke
12:40]
3
Jesus who saved us is
praying for us in heaven and preparing for our home where we will live. And
when the time comes, he will come to this world and check how faithfully we
have lived.
4
But we cannot know
when Jesus will come back to this world. So there are people who live as if
Jesus won¡¯t come. When Jesus was on the earth, he told us with what kind of
heart we should live until Jesus comes back again.
5
Jesus told us that
there will be people who will be praised for their wisdom or punished for
their foolishness.
6
This is a story about
a foolish servant. There was a very rich person.
This rich man had to
leave from his home for a long time. So he called all of his servants.
7
And he left a big
task to one of his servants.
He told him to manage
all of his properties, dividing the needed food and giving them equally to
all of his servants.
8
But after the master
left, this servant acted as if the master would never return. ¡°I don¡¯t even know
when will the master return so I want to play and enjoy myself for a while.
When the master is about to return, I will clean up my act.¡± He thought this way
and began to live the way that he wanted.
9
He acted as if he was
the master.
He hit and harassed
the other servants whom he should have taken care of.
He ate and used all
of his master's properties unresponsibly.
10
The master returned
without any contact. He was furious at this servant's evil acts. So he had
him beaten up and kicked out. The servant was immediately fired from his
position. This foolish servant hadn¡¯t thought that his master would return
unannounced, so he committed this big mistake.
11
Who will be the wise
servant?
There was another
master who called all of his servants together and said,
¡°I have to leave for
a far off place so it will take lots of time. Until I return, this servant
will give the food to you and manage my properties.¡±
12
The master left all
his properties to this servant and told him to take good care of the other
servants then he left.
13
That servant gave the
food to the other servants on time and took care of them without
difficulties.
Also, he didn¡¯t waste
his master¡¯s properties but carefully looked after them.
14
One day, the master
returned without any contact.
The master was very
pleased because his servant did everything he had ordered.
15
The master had
entrusted all of his properties to the faithful servant who accurately did
all the tasks that was left to him.
This servant received
a great blessing because he faithfully did all the right things.
16
We all are people who
are waiting for Jesus like the servant waiting for the master. When Jesus
went to heaven, he told us that he will come back again to the earth. And he
requested this before he left, ¡°preach the gospel until the end of the
world.¡±
17
We too will suffer
punishment if we live like the evil servant who acted as if Jesus would not
come again and didn't follow the words of God.
18
Like this faithful
servant we should try hard to be the people who will be without any shame
whenever Jesus comes back again. To preach the gospel and obey the words of
God every time, we should be about His Work. We should become the children of
God who live with the heart of meeting Jesus at any time.
