Mephibosheth
Received Grace
2
Don't
be afraid," David said to him, "for I will surely show you kindness
for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that
belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table."
Mephibosheth bowed down and said, "What is your servant, that you should
notice a dead dog like me?" (II Samuel 9:7-8)

Saul
trying to kill David because of envy, finally died on Mount Gilboa.
Jonathan,
David's best friend, also died there with King Saul.
4
David,
who became the king of Israel, after King Saul won every battle.
Israel,
which David ruled over, expanded it's territory and became a very strong
country. God was always with David.
5
King
David considered his friendship with Jonathan very special so he wanted to
take care of the rest of Saul's family.
"Is
there anyone alive in the family of Saul? If there is, I want to treat them
well for Jonathan's sake."
6
There
was a servant of Saul's household named Ziba.
David's
officials found Ziba and brought him in front of David.
7
David
asked Ziba, "Is there no one still left of the house of Saul to whom I
can show God's kindness?" Ziba answered the king, "There is still a
son of Jonathan. He is crippled in both feet."

A
long time ago, there was a custom that if a new king was crowned, all of the
old king's family were killed because they could threaten the throne of the
new king. So Jonathan's son, Mephibosheth was hiding at the house of Makir
son of Ammiel in Lo Debar."
9
After
King David heard that one of Jonathan's sons was still alive, he had his
servants bring him. Mephibosheth came to David, he bowed down in honor to him
and said, "I am your servant."
10
David
said to him, "Don't be afraid. For I will surely show you kindness for
the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore all the land to you that
belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table."
11
After
Mephibosheth heard this from King David, he was so surprised and thankful.
Thinking to be killed himself, he received unimaginably great grace from
David.
12
Mephibosheth
said to David, "What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog
like me?" He said to David in gratitude for the king's grace.
13
The
king summoned Ziba, Saul's servant, and said to him, "I have given your
master's grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family. You and
your sons and your servants are to farm the land for him and bring in the
crops, so that your master's grandson may be provided for. Manage well all of
the finances so that they will not run out."
14
Also,
Mephibosheth
always ate at David's table like one of the king's sons.
15
He
received unimaginably great favor from David.
Mephibosheth
thought to be killed by David but instead he received his love.
Mephibosheth
would have not forgotten David's kindness for all of his life.
16
However,
we have received greater grace than Mephibosheth.
We
were suppose to go to hell to live there forever.
However,
God did not let us go to hell for we have received eternal life because Jesus
came.
17
God
lets us be children of God and possess His kingdom if we believe in Jesus as
our Lord and Saviour. God's grace is so much bigger than the grace that Mephibosheth
received from David.
Therefore, we should always thank God for saving us our whole life long.
Also, we should always live keeping and following all of God's words.
