| 1 | | Cain Killed
  his Brother in Envy |

  | 2 | | Genesis
  4: 8 Now
Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." And
while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. |

  | 3 | | Adam
and Eve ate the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil of
which God had told them that they must not eat and then were driven out of
  the Garden of Eden. |

  | 4 | | They
settled in a new place and hoped to come back to the Garden of Eden someday. There they had two sons named Cain and Abel.
 |

  | 5 | | Adam
lay with his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She
said, "With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man." |

  | 6 | | As
Cain and Abel were growing, they did different work. Cain
worked the soil, and Abel kept the flocks. |

  | 7 | | In
the course of time they worshipped the LORD. Cain prepared for some of the fruits of the soil and gave an offering to the
  LORD.
 |

  | 8 | | Abel
prepared fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock and gave them
  to the LORD. |

  | 9 | | However,
God looked with favor on Abel and his offering. Yet
God did not receive Cain's offering. |

  | 10 | | Cain
was very angry, and his face was downcast. Because
the LORD did not look with favor on Cain and his offering. |

  | 11 | | Then
the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? But
if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to
have you, but you must master it." |

  | 12 | | But
Cain did not accept God's warning. Cain said to his brother, Abel as if nothing had ever happened.
"Let's go out to the field. Abel went out to the field without doubt.
 |

  | 13 | | Cain
tried to do something bad to Abel in the field. 'God
did not receive my offering because of him that's why I will kill him.' Cain
thought that he could gain recognition if Abel died. |

  | 14 | | Cain
attacked and killed his brother Abel. Cain's envy became murder. He thought nobody would know.
 |

  | 15 | | God
said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?" Cain
  replied, "I don't know. Am I my brother's keeper?" |

  | 16 | | ¡°I
saw all that you have done. Your brother's blood cried out to me from the
ground. You are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its
mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. When you work the
ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless
wanderer on the earth." God punished Cain. |

  | 17 | | It
is a terrible sin to envy others. Cain thought that God did not receive his service because of Abel.
So he killed his brother Abel with jealousy. Thus envy can kill someone.
 |

  | 18 | | Whenever
you have an envious heart, you should remember Cain who killed his brother
Abel. You should pray for the Holy Spirit to make the envy disappear from
your heart. You should praise someone who does better than you. Then God will
  lift you up. |
