The Miracle of
Baby Moses Found in the Nile
2
(Exodus
2:9)
Pharaoh's
daughter said to her, "Take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will
pay you."
So the woman took the baby and nursed him.

The
Israelites lived at Egypt as slaves for a long time.
Pharaoh,
king of Egypt acted harshly towards the Israelites.
4
There
was a reason why Pharaoh oppressed the Israelites so much.
He
saw that the Israelites were very fruitful and multiplied greatly and became
exceedingly numerous.
5
Pharaoh
was frightened underneath. He thought that the Israelites would become even
more numerous and betray him. So he made up an evil plan.
6
"Every
boy that is born you must throw into the Nile, but let every girl live."
From
that day on the Israelites suffered for this proclamation.
7
There
were Amram and Jochebed among the Israelites who loved God.
Jochebed
became pregnant with their third child.
8
She
gave birth to a son nine months later. They saw that he was a fine child.
If
her son was found out, he would be thrown into the Nile.
9
Amram and Jochebed
decided to hide the son. "God gave us a precious son.
This son will do great for God. Let's keep the son safely."
10
They
hid the son and prayed to God that he would not be discovered, so they raised
him for three months.
11
After
three months, she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket for him
and coated it with tar and pitch.
12
Then
she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the
Nile. If God did not protect him, he would die. His sister stood at a
distance to see what would happen to him.
13
However,
an amazing thing happened. A princess of Pharaoh found the crying baby in the
papyrus basket. The princess felt sorry for the baby so she wanted to raise
him.
14
Then
his sister asked Pharaoh's daughter, "Shall I go and get one of the
Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?" Princess answered, "Yes,
go."
15
Miriam brought her
mother to the princess. The princess did not know that this woman was the
child's mother. The princess said, "Take
this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you."
16
God heard the
mother's prayer and protected the child and let her raise her own child at
the princess' request. She was not afraid of the soldiers any more. This
child would grow up to be the great leader of the Israelites who would make
them to be set free from Egypt.

Prayer has such
strong power. Even though we are in a difficult situation, we should pray to
God with faith and God will give us an amazing answer. When you are in big
trouble, do not worry just pray to God.
