1

Let us Live in the Light

2

(I John 2:10-11)

Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble. But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him.

3

Among the disciples of Jesus, there was a person named John.

After Jesus went up to heaven, the Apostle John preached the gospel the longest.

4

Apostle John shared that all our sins will be forgiven if we believe in Jesus and he also shared that we will have eternal life if we believe Jesus.
Many people were able to know about Jesus through the Apostle John and they believed in Jesus.

5

Those people said that they knew God and that they served God very well.
But in fact, they did not keep the commandments of God.

6

Apostle John shared about the wrong mind that those people had.

¡ºIf someone says, "I know God!" But does not obey what God ordered to them, then they are a liar and the truth is not in them. [John1] 2:4¡»

7

It means those people keeping the commandments of God are the ones who have the right to say "I know God." The Bible says, if someone always lies, bullies friends and steals other¡¯s things and yet they still say that they know God, then they are lying.

8

Some people say to others, "God is in my heart."
So people think they are really following the words of Jesus.
But how they live is very different from keeping the words of Jesus.

9

Apostle John also shared the wrong minds of those people.

¡ºWhoever says God is in me, should live like how Jesus did. [John 1]2:6¡»

10

This means, people who say that God is in their heart, should always works hard to live like Jesus. When they do anything, if God in their hearts, then they will only do the things that make Jesus happy.

11

When we believe Jesus, we move from darkness to light.
Believers of Jesus can throw away the darkness and the bad things which Satan likes.
Believers of Jesus then will only do the works of light which Jesus is happy with.

12

Apostle John also told us the people who are living in the light.
If someone says, "I am living in the light," but they still hate their brother, then they are still living in darkness. People who love their neighbors are the ones living in the light and they don¡¯t do any bad things to others.

13

But people hating their neighbors are living in darkness and because they are in darkness, they don¡¯t know where they are going.
It is because the darkness has blinded them. [John 1 2:9-11]

14

During that time, some people say that they believe in Jesus and that they live in the light, but they still hate their neighbors.

15

The thing which Satan likes the most is to hate others.
You do well to friends you like but if you hate and bully those friends who are not joining you, then you are still in darkness.

16

If you believe Jesus and if you are living in the light, then you should not hate your friends. The Holy Spirit in our hearts tells us to understand friends in difficult times and to help them. The Holy Spirit also gives us bravery to do so.

17

Let us say out loud these confessions and let us think about the things we should do when we say these confessions. Say "I know God." (I keep the commandments of God.) "God lives in my heart." (I do things like how Jesus did.) "I am now in the light." (I love my friends.)

18

We believe in Jesus and our sins have been forgiven. From now on, we don¡¯t belong to the darkness which Satan holds. Now Jesus is in our hearts. We are the children of God with faith in Jesus and henceforth we should try hard to become children of faith who can be applauded by Jesus through keeping the three things we learned from the Bible today.
