Elisha
who Received Power from God
2
[II Kings 2:14]
Then
he took the cloak that had fallen from him and struck the water with it.
"Where now is the LORD, the God of Elijah?" he asked. When he
struck the water, it divided to the right and to the left, and he crossed
over.

God`s great prophet
Elijah was called by God. God decided to bring Elijah to heaven alive. Elijah
went to heaven riding in a burning chariot without dying.
4
There was one person
who saw Elijah going to heaven. He was Elisha who was Elijah`s apprentice. Elisha
was together with the prophet Elijah until the end.
5
The prophet Elijah
asked Elisha before he went to heaven.
"Elisha, what do you want me to do for you?" Elisha answered to his
teacher,
"I want power two times stronger than yours."
6
Elijah said, "You
are asking a really difficult one. However, if you see God bringing me to
heaven, your wish will be granted."
7
Elisha brought the
left behind cloak of Elijah and stood in front of the Jordan River. Elisha hit the Jordan River and said, "Where is the God of Elijah?"
Then suddenly the water started to scatter around.
8
God granted power to
Elisha who wished for power. When the other prophets saw that God`s power had
been granted to Elisha they bowed down and started to follow him.
9
Elisha was staying in
the city called Jericho.
This city was built on a really beautiful place.
This city seem to be a good place to live.
10
However, the people
living in this city had a really huge concern.
Every year when they would plant some fruit before the fruit would be ripe
enough they would fall down.
11
They went to Elisha
and told him about this.
"This city seems fine but because the water is not good the fruit falls
down even before they are ripe."
12
When the prophet
Elisha heard this he told them. "Bring one new bowl with some salt in it."
The people brought one new bowl with some salt in it as Elisha had told them
to do.
13
Elisha brought the
salt to the place where the water comes out. And he threw the salt there and
said, "The LORD has said this; 'I cure this water, hence starting now
there will be nothing dying because of this water. And there won`t be any
fruit that dies."
14
Everything happened
as Elisha said. And from that day onward there was no fruit that fell even
before they were ripe. Fresh fruit started to bear on the trees. God healed
the water through Elisha.
15
Elisha became a great
prophet after Elijah in Israel.
Where ever Elisha went many people followed him. Elisha even saved Israel
when they where under attack from other countries by praying to God.
16
Because Elisha asked
for power just for God, God granted his wish. And God helped Elisha to
succeed in everything by staying together with him.
17
After a few days, the
new year will begin. I hope every one of you here will have the same wish as
Elisha. I hope we will ask for power to do God`s work. God will surely grant
the same grace as Elisha. And we will also be used in an important place like
Elisha.
