David
got the Victory by Prayer

[I Chronicles
14:16-17]
So
David did as God commanded him, and
they struck down the Philistine army,
all
the way from Gibeon to Gezer. So
David's fame spread throughout every
land, and the LORD made all
the nations fear him.
3
David
was a man who trusted and relied on God till the end.
God raised this David as the king of Israel.
The news that David became the King of Israel spread to the surrounding
countries.
4
There
was a country which felt very bad for this news. That country was Philistine.
"What?
That David became the king of Israel?"
"Yes.
He did."
5
"He
is a very special one. Before that David earns great power, let us attack him
and make them surrender. So gather all the army and attack Israel."
The
Philistines suddenly attacked Israel.
6
"King
David, the Philistine army has come and have attacked the Valley of
Rephaim."
"What?
The Philistines have come to attack us? Okay. I see."
How
will King David overcome this difficult time?
7
David
started to silently pray to God alone.
"God,
the Philistine army has came to attack us. Will I fight them back? Will you
help me to have victory over them?"
David
knew that God had this war in HIS hands so he prayed to God.
8
God
heard the prayer of David and said to him, "Go, David. I will hand them
over to you."
God
allowed David to fight the battle.
9
David
relied on the words of God and defeated the Philistine army right away. God
was with David so that battle was already in David's hands. The Philistine
army threw away everything and ran for their dear lives.
10
They
also had left behind all of their idols which they had held so dearly before.
So David burned all of those idols. David greatly won that battle.
11
The
Philistine army had failed so they decided to gather an even bigger army to
attack Israel for the second time. They began to assault the people in the
valley.
12
David
heard the news and prayed again to God.
"God,
the Philistine army has came to attack us again. What should I do?"
God was so happy that David always prayed first in every situation.
13
God
told David the plans to do in the battle.
"Do
not go straight up, but circle around them and attack them in front of the
balsam trees. As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the
balsam trees, move out to battle, because that will mean God has gone out in
front of you to strike the Philistine army."
14
David
followed the order of God. God led the Philistine army to where David was
waiting and David defeated all of the Philistine army. That day, David got a
very big victory.
15
Through
this event, King David's name was lifted even higher and other neighboring
countries feared King David so there was no other country that attacked
Israel.
16
David
was able to defeat the Philistine army because he prayed to God before he
went out to the battle. God heard the prayers of David and helped him win the
war.
17
If
you also want to be like David and win over anything that happens in your
everyday life, make a good habit of praying to God before any happening. God
helps those who praise God and gives victory to people who pray like David.
18
Make
a habit of praying to God first when you encounter difficult times. Do not
try to overcome it by your own thoughts. If you pray, God will amazingly give
answers on what to do.
