Andrew
Evangelizes to his Brother Peter
2
[John
1:41-42]
The
first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We
have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to
Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John. You
will be called Cephas" (which, when translated, is Peter).

There was a great man
who came to this world 6 months earlier than Jesus.
His name was John the Baptist.
4
John the Baptist
lived in the desert and put all of his strength into preaching the gospel of
God. There were also disciples that respected and followed this John the
Baptist. The Bible introduced John the Baptist as a man preparing the way of
Jesus.
5
One day, John the
Baptist and his two disciples were walking down the road.
At that moment, Jesus was passing by them.
The two disciples also saw him.
6
John the Baptist said
to his disciples, "Look, he is the Lamb of God."
John the Baptist was telling his disciples to follow Jesus.
7
The disciples heard
that and followed Jesus right away.
Jesus saw the two disciples following him and said, "What do you
want?"
8
They said to Jesus, "I
want to go follow where you are going."
The disciples of John said that they wanted to go together to the place Jesus
was staying.
9
Upon hearing their
request, Jesus said to them, "Follow me."
Jesus brought them to where he was staying.
10
Jesus and the two
disciples of John the Baptist spent the day there.
That time was around four in the afternoon.
They knew that Jesus truly is the Messiah.
11
One of the two
disciples that followed Jesus was a man named Andrew. After meeting Jesus,
the first thing that Andrew did was go to his older brother Simon. Andrew
brought his brother Simon to Jesus.
12
Andrew said to his
brother Simon, "We found the Messiah."
Andrew met Jesus and while listening to his words, he knew that Jesus is the
Messiah that they were waiting for.
13
Through the lead of
Andrew, brother Simon went to Jesus. Jesus saw Simon and immediately knew who
he was. "You are Simon, son of John."
14
Then, Jesus gave a
new name to Simon.
"From now on, I will call you Cephas." Jesus said. Cephas is the
same as Peter and this name has a meaning of rock. Jesus gave Simon a new
name, Peter.
15
Simon Peter was led
to Jesus by his younger brother Andrew. After that, he got the calling of
Jesus and he became someone who did a very important role among the twelve
disciples of Jesus. He was a great apostle. He preached the gospel until he
died for his faith. He became a man with great faith that was like a rock.
16
If Andrew had met
Jesus only by himself but had not brought his brother Simon to Jesus, we
could not have met the great apostle Peter. God greatly praised the role of
Andrew which led the great apostle Peter to Jesus.
17
All of us who are
having this worship service today, should have a heart like Andrew. We should
tell our beloved family or friends about Jesus and lead them to Him. It will
also be a great blessing if the person I led to church becomes a great person
whom God uses.
