Those who
believe in Jesus have eternal life
2
[John 3:16]
"For God so loved the world that he gave
his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have
eternal life.

Among the Pharisees, there was a man named
Nicodemus.
He was one of the Jewish ruling council.
4
One night, Nicodemus came to Jesus. Nicodemus said to Jesus,
"Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one
could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with
him."
5
Jesus answered Nicodemus this way.
"I tell you the truth. No one can see the kingdom of God unless he is
born again."
6
Upon hearing this, Nicodemus asked Jesus again.
"How can a man be born when he is already old? Can a man enter his
mother's womb for the second time and be born?"
7
Nicodemus thought that being born again meant going inside mother's womb
again when a man is already grown up then being born to the world for the
second time.
8
Jesus explained to Nicodemus the meaning of being born again. "It
means that no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and
the Spirit. Man is born of flesh through his parents but man should be
spiritually born again through the Holy Spirit."
9
People who are born from the Holy Spirit are not born visually which
others can see. We hear the sound of wind blowing but we don't know where it
came from and where it goes. Being born in the Spirit is something like this.
10
Nicodemus was amazed by the words of Jesus so he asked again.
"How can this be possible?"
11
Jesus answered Nicodemus, "A long time ago, when the Israelites
were in the desert, they once avoided death by looking at the bronze snake
highly hung on a pole. Just like this, I will also be hung high. Then, those
who believe this will have eternal life."
12
There is a saying that just as the Israelites were healed by looking at
the bronze snake, the way to have eternal life is to believe in Jesus who was
hung on the cross to forgive our sins.
13
Let us read together what Jesus also said.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:16)
14
God did not send his Son to judge this world. God gave all of our sins
to Jesus, His only Son. Then, God made Jesus die on the cross and resurrected
him on the third day. Through this, God made Jesus win over all the power of
sin.
15
God sent Jesus so that anyone who believes in him may receive eternal
life and go to the kingdom of God. Anyone who believes in Jesus, the Son of
God, will not have the judgment on the last day and will have eternal life as
their gift.
16
However, anyone who does not believe and accept Jesus cannot avoid the
judgment. It is because they like darkness more than Jesus, the light.
They will live a life of eternal suffering in hell.
17
God sent His one and only Jesus to this world in order to save me and
give everlasting life to the believers of His Son. This time, we should have
true thankful hearts. As believers who have received this grace, we should
always have thankful hearts to God and we should eagerly obey the word of
God.
