Jesus came into the world
through a Virgin
|
2
|
|
[Luke 1:30-31]
But the angel said to her, "Do not be
afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God.
You will be with child and
give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.

In December, the whole world enjoys Christmas.
The streets are decorated with wonderful
Christmas trees.
You can easily hear Christmas carols everywhere.
But there are not many who know precisely the
meaning of Christmas day.
Even the main character of Christmas is
misunderstood to be Santa Claus.
|
4
|
|
Christmas means to celebrate the birth of Jesus
Christ.
This means a worship service commemorating the
birth of Jesus.
This is the day that commemorates Jesus coming
into the world.

How did Jesus come to this earth?
Joseph, who lived in Nazareth, promised to marry
a virgin named Mary.
They were people who had good faith in God.
|
6
|
|
One day, God sent the angel Gabriel to visit
Mary.
Gabriel said to Mary, ¡°Woman of grace! Be joyful
that God is with you.¡±
|
7
|
|
Mary heard this and was greatly disturbed and
thought, 'What sort of greeting is this?'
Mary was so afraid because of the appearance of
the angel of God.
|
8
|
|
The angel Gabriel told Mary: ¡°Do not be afraid,
Mary, for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a
son,
and you shall call his name Jesus.¡±
|
9
|
|
The angel continued to tell Mary:
¡°He will be great and will be called the Son of
the Most High.
And the Lord God will give to him the throne of
his father David and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of
his kingdom there will be no end.¡±
|
10
|
|
Mary was amazed that she would be pregnant.
Mary said to the angel, ¡°How will this be, since
I am a virgin?¡±
And the angel answered her,
¡°<The Holy Spirit> will come upon you, and
the power of the Most High will overshadow you,
therefore the child to be born will be called
holy the Son of God.¡±
|
11
|
|
Mary heard these words, and came to believe that
God would do these things through the Holy Spirit. ¡°I am a servant of the
Lord. I believe that it will be done to me according to your words.¡± Mary
became pregnant because of the Holy Spirit.
|
12
|
|
Joseph realized that Mary was pregnant.
But he did not know that it was due to the Holy
Spirit.
Joseph, who was a righteous man, decided not to
grumble to others
but to quietly break off his relationship with
Mary.
|
13
|
|
Then one day God's angel appeared in Joseph's
dream. The angel told Joseph.
¡°Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take
Mary home as your wife,
because what is conceived in her is from the Holy
Spirit.
She will give birth to a son, and you are to give
him the name Jesus
because he will save his people from their sins.¡±
|
14
|
|
Joseph wandered from his dream and realized that
Mary was pregnant because of the Holy Spirit. Just as the angel said, he
married Mary.
This is what the Bible says: ¡°When Joseph woke
up,
he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded
him and took Mary home as his wife. But he did not consummate their marriage
until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.¡±(Mt 1:24~25)
|
15
|
|
Jesus came to this world through the virgin Mary.
Through the virgin Mary, the prophecy of the
Bible has come true.
700 years before Jesus came, the prophet Isaiah
had already shouted:
¡°Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign.
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and shall call his name Immanuel.¡±(Is 7:14)

|
Christmas is the day when the church comes
together to worship God with joy, remembering Jesus who came to earth to save
us.
All of us who believe in Jesus must know the
meaning of Christmas
and should worship God on this day.
|
17
|
|
We must also imitate the good faith that Mary and
Joseph had.
When the Holy Spirit spoke, they accepted the
Word as it is.
Their faith became a pathway for Jesus to come to
this world.
We must be people with pure faith, like Mary and
Joseph,
knowing that God is doing His precious work
through our faith.
