God who judged the house of Ahab through Jehu
|
2
|
|
[2 Kings 10:17]
When
Jehu came to Samaria, he killed all who were left there of Ahab's family;
he
destroyed them, according to the word of the LORD spoken to Elijah.
|

|
|
Among the kings of northern Israel, King Ahab was the worst
king.
In the wickedness of Ahab, he took the vineyard of a man named
Naboth.
|
4
|
|
Jezebel, Ahab's wife, finds that Ahab wants Naboth's vineyard
and plans a very evil thing
to take it away. Naboth did not commit sin, and killed him.
And his vineyard will be presented to his husband, Ahab.

|
God,
who knew all the evil that Ahab had done, prophesied two things about
how
Ahab would be judged by sending a prophet Elijah.
The
first prophecy was ¡°In the place where dogs licked up Naboth's blood,
dogs
will lick up your blood - yes, yours!¡± (1 Kings 21:19)
And
second prophecy was ¡°I am going to bring disaster on you. I will wipe out
your descendants and cut off from Ahab every last male in Israel-slave or
free.¡± (1 Kings 21:21)

|
The
first judgment of God was done as King Ahab died. King Ahab died on the
chariot
because
of his bow in the battlefield. It was done by licking his blood as dogs came
to
prophesy
when washing his blood stained carriage.

The
first Judgment Prophecy was made when the prophet Elisha was active.
Elisha
sent a prophet to pour oil on General Jehu at Ramoth Gilead,
and
told him that God had set up a prosperity as the new king of Israel.
Elisha
also told the prophet that after he had spoken, he should rush away and not
hesitate.
|
8
|
|
This
prophet went to Ramoth Gilead as the prophet of Elisha had instructed.
Upon
arrival, the generals of the army were meeting. Among them was General Jehu.
|
9
|
|
The
Prophet said. ¡°General, I have a word to say,¡±
replied
Jehu. ¡°Who among us will you speak to?¡±
¡°This
is General Jehu.¡±
|
10
|
|
Then
Jehu rose from his seat and went into the house along with the prophet.
The
prophet anointed General Jehu's head as he commanded the prophet Elisha,
saying:
¡°This
is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:
¡®I
anoint you king over the Lord¡¯s people Israel. You are to destroy the house
of Ahab
your
master, and I will avenge the blood of my servants the prophets and the blood
of
all
the Lord¡¯s servants shed by Jezebel. The whole house of Ahab will perish.
I
will cut off from Ahab every last male in Israel-slave or free. As for
Jezebel,
dogs
will devour her on the plot of ground at Jezreel, and no one will bury her.¡±
|
11
|
|
After
this, the young prophet hastened to open the door. When Jehu came out of the
house, others went to him and asked him. ¡°What on earth did he say? Let us
know.¡±
|
12
|
|
Jehu
told them the words of the young prophet, saying,
¡°The
LORD has made me king over Israel.¡±
|
13
|
|
Upon
hearing these words, they took off their clothes and put them on top of the
stairway,
and
placed Jehu on them. And they shouted with a trumpet that Jehu was a new
king.
In
order to carry out the Word of God, Jehu headed for King Joram. King Joram
became
king after his father Ahab.
|
14
|
|
King
Joram was wounded during the war and was staying in Jezreel for treatment.
And
Ahaziah king of Judah, who was there for the sake of King Joram's visitation,
went
out with him to meet Jehu. The place where they met was, unfortunately,
Naboth's land.
|
15
|
|
The
Joram King saw that Jehu had rebelled and began to rush away.
Jehu
shot his bow at the Joram King who was running away.
The
arrow hit the king of Joram, and he died in the chariot.
|
16
|
|
Joram's
body, which was slain by Jehu, was thrown into Naboth's field.
Jezerel's
mother, Jezebel, was also cast by Jehu on the gate and in a disastrous end.
The
bodies of Jezebel were eaten by the dogs according to Elijah's prophecy.
|
17
|
|
Not
only the seventy of Ahab's sons, who lived in Samaria, were all slain by
those
who
were commanded by Jehu. Ahab, who had not obeyed God, and had done evil,
and
his whole house were completely gone from the earth by God's judgment.
|
18
|
|
The
prophecies of Elijah's prophets to Ahab who took Naboth's vineyard long ago
were
fulfilled. God has unleashed the chastisement of Naboth's death
by
thoroughly judging the wicked king of Ahab.
We
must know that no wicked man who is against God and harms the lives of
his
neighbors can escape the grave judgment of God.
We
also believe in Jesus, being a child of God,
we
must firmly believe that God knows everything, even though we may be
perverted.
We
are all those who have this faith and depend on God and hope in any
circumstance.
