 | Two disciples who went to Emmaus |

  | 2 |
 | [Luke
  24:35] Then
the two told what had happened on the way, and
how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread. |

  | 3 |
 | It was the day when Jesus was
resurrected. Two of Jesus' disciples were heading
for Emmaus, 7miles(11 kilometers) from Jerusalem. |

  | 4 |
 | As they were walking down the street,
they were talking about things that happened in the last few days. They had a
heated debate on the resurrection that happened that day. |

  | 5 |
 | When they were talking for a long
time, one person walked with them. He was the resurrected Jesus. But
these disciples did not recognize the Jesus. |

  | 6 |
 | Jesus asked them. ¡°What are you
talking about?¡± The two asked for this question and
stopped with a very sad face. |

  | 7 |
 | One of the two named Cleopas said to
Jesus. ¡°You seem to be going to Jerusalem, do
not you know what happened recently there?¡± Cleopas told Jesus that he could
  not understand at all. |

  | 8 |
 | Jesus asked again. ¡°What has happened
in Jerusalem?¡± Jesus asked the two. |

  | 9 |
 | When
they heard this, they began to talk about what had happened. ¡°It is about Jesus of Nazareth, who
was a prophet with power in actions and words before God and people. Then the
chief priests and our leaders handed him over to die and crucified him. We expected
him to be the one to save Israel. It is also the third day that this has
  happened.¡± |

  | 10 |
 | ¡°Then some women surprised us. They
went to the grave of Jesus early in the morning, but without seeing the body of Jesus,
they returned and saw an angel who said that Jesus was raised. Some of the
people who were with us ran to the grave, as they said, and they could not see Jesus.¡± |

  | 11 |
 | When Jesus heard this, He spoke. ¡°You
do not seem to believe in the Word of God. Is it not recorded in the Bible that
Christ will suffer all these troubles and enter his glory?¡± |

  | 12 |
 | Jesus began to tell the two men about
Moses and explained all the prophets about Jesus. The two disciples never knew that man
was the resurrected Jesus until that time. |

  | 13 |
 | Finally,
they arrived in Emmaus. The disciples pleaded with Jesus. ¡°Stay with us because the sun has
passed.¡± Jesus decided to spend the evening
  with them as requested. |

  | 14 |
 | They sat down together at a meal.
Jesus gave his own bread and prayed for thanksgiving. And Jesus took the bread and gave it
  to his disciples. |

  | 15 |
 | At the moment of receiving the bread
they became bright. And they realized that the man was
Jesus. At that moment, Jesus disappeared and was not seen. |

  | 16 |
 | They
  talked to each other. ¡°Did
not it seem as though our hearts were burning when
Jesus spoke to us on the road and understood the Bible?¡± The two disciples clearly understood
that Jesus had risen by meeting Jesus and got up and returned to Jerusalem.
There were eleven disciples and several people gathered. The two disciples talked about what
happened on the road. And when Jesus gave bread to the two
men, they told them that they knew that man
was Jesus. They became witnesses of Jesus'
  resurrection. |

  | 17 |
 | The
two disciples who went to Emmaus had no confidence in Jesus' resurrection. But
after meeting the resurrected Jesus, they turned into witnesses to the
resurrection. Today we learned that Jesus was raised
through disciples to Emmaus who actually met Jesus. Jesus wants us to live as
witnesses of the resurrection. May you be a life of faith that
witnesses the resurrection of Jesus throughout your life. |
