The pleasure of finding a drachma
|
2
|
|
[Luke
15:10]
In the same
way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God
over one
sinner who repents."

Everywhere
Jesus went, people were overflowing.
Jesus
gave the gospel of the kingdom of God
through the story so that people could
understand it.
|
4
|
|
Today,
Jesus told a story of a woman with ten drachmas.
The
drachma is one of the coins used in Judea where Jesus lived.
The value of a drachma was the amount
of work a worker would receive
when he or she worked one day.
|
5
|
|
There
are a couple of explanations for the 10 drachmas at the time.
First, there was a custom that the
bridegroom gave the bride the gift of love to the bride at the time of marriage.
The bride, who received the groom's 10
drachmas, tied this to a line and put it on her head.
|
6
|
|
In
other cases, it would have been the amount needed to get married.
Finally,
it may have been the savings they had collected for the emergency of their
families.
Whatever it was, it was money that had
a significant meaning.
|
7
|
|
By the way, one day a woman found that
one of her ten drachmas was lacking.
|
8
|
|
The
woman repeatedly counted several times. But there were only nine drachmas.
Lost a precious drachma.
|
9
|
|
This
woman began her effort to find one drachma who had been lost since.
First of all, she lighted the light of
the whole house. If it is dark, it cannot be found.
|
10
|
|
And she took a broom. She began to
look for a drachma with a broom,
sweeping all over the place.
|
11
|
|
She
went looking for her where she went today.
She
looked around the bed and looked around the closet.
But she did not see one of her lost
drachma.
|
12
|
|
But
she could never give up looking for a drachma.
She walked every corner of the house
and looked twice at the same place again.
|
13
|
|
After
a long time, she finally found a lost drachma.
This
woman was glad as if she had obtained the world.
She was so delighted to kiss the drama
she found.
|
14
|
|
This
woman has invited her neighbors to her home to share this joy.
This
woman has told her story.
Neighbors who listened to the story of
this woman also rejoiced.
|
15
|
|
Jesus
explained this to people after he had finished this story.
Jesus told people that this woman
found the lost drachma as a soul that had just left God and repented again.
|
16
|
|
She
shared joy with her neighbors after she found a lost drachma.
Thus,
Jesus said, When a man comes to repent and return to God,
angels gather in the kingdom of heaven
and rejoice greatly.
|
17
|
|
Today,
Jesus says that we, who believe in Jesus, must act like this woman.
Just
as this woman has sought diligently a lost drachma, we must find friends
who
have left God.
When
a friend repents again and comes back to Jesus,
Jesus
is pleased and glorified in the kingdom of heaven.
From
this day on, you must be children
who
seek the help of the Holy Spirit so that your friends
who have left Jesus will be able to
return to Jesus.
