Miracle in Lystra
|
2
|
|
[Acts
14:15]
"Men,
why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you.
We
are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things
to
the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them.

|
Paul and Barnabas, who were appointed
as the first missionaries,
preached the gospel in various
regions.
They had a great difficulty in
communicating the gospel with those who opposed it.
But Paul and Barnabas never gave up
the work of preaching the gospel.
|
4
|
|
Today, they have preached the gospel
in Lystra.
Paul and Barnabas taught and testified
about Jesus to the people there.
There was one person who had never
walked since birth.
|
5
|
|
This man had a great interest in the
gospel Paul preached.
As he listened to the gospel preached
by Paul, he had a great faith in his heart
¡°Jesus can heal my sickness.¡±
|
6
|
|
Paul knew that in his heart there was
faith in healing his sickness.
The Holy Spirit has already given his
faith in Jesus Christ a gift.
The Apostle Paul approached the man.
|
7
|
|
Paul shouted at him with a loud voice.
¡°Get up on your feet!¡±
Paul has commanded to stand up for
those who have never walked on his feet.
|
8
|
|
After Paul commanded, a miracle arose.
When he was born, his legs could not walk.
And he got up from there and start to
walked.
|
9
|
|
The people who saw this amazing sight
began to shout.
¡°The gods have come down to us in the
image of men.¡±
People gathered around Paul and
Barnabas.
|
10
|
|
They gave the name of the god they
worshiped to two people.
They named Barnabas as ¡®Zeus¡¯.
And the well-spoken Paul named
¡®Hermes¡¯, and praised the two.
|
11
|
|
And when the news came, the priest,
who was serving Zeus, took some cows and flowers
to the gates and tried to offer
sacrifices to Paul and Barnabas.
|
12
|
|
Paul and Barnabas, who heard this
news, tore their clothes. And they cried.
¡°Why do you act like this? We are just
like you. We have come here to preach the gospel
to you, that you may turn from these
vanities and return to the living God.
God created the heavens and the earth
and the sea and all that is in them.¡±
|
13
|
|
The Apostle Paul informed those who
were trying to serve them that God,
the Creator of heaven and earth, was
only God.
And God has given us rain from heaven,
and letting them bear fruit in time, protecting them. After hearing these
words, they stopped trying to offer sacrifices to Paul and Barnabas.
|
14
|
|
After that, the Jews who disliked Paul
came to Lystra. They acted as if Paul was a bad person. Those who had been
driven to the incitement began to throw stones toward Paul.
|
15
|
|
Paul was struck by the stone and fell
down to his senses.
The agitated Jews thought Paul was
dead and dragged him out of the city.
By the fallen Paul there were those
who followed Paul. After a long time,
Paul awakened miraculously.
|
16
|
|
God is indeed powerful and there is
nothing impossible.
Someone who has not walked has walked.
He also awakened Paul, who was
unjustly stoned to death.
|
17
|
|
Today
we met a God who miraculously performed in Lystra. God,
who
showed miracles in Lystra, is now with you now. He is the one who gives us
miracles.
I hope that you will have a faith in
the Almighty God with all your heart.
I want to be people of faith who
experience the wonderful miracles given to those
who have that faith.
