Tabernacle
and Jesus
2
[ Exodus 40:33~34]
Then Moses set up
the courtyard around the tabernacle and altar and put up the curtain at the
entrance to the courtyard. And so Moses finished the work. Then the cloud
covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

The
Israelites, freed from Egypt by God's grace, lived in the wilderness until
they entered Canaan, the Promised Land. God commanded Moses, the leader, to
Mount Sinai to command important things for the people of Israel.
4
God told
Moses to build the tabernacle where God would stay, and He told Moses exactly
how to build the tabernacle. He told Moses to build up Bezalel and Oholiab.
5
Moses
delivered to the people what he had heard from God. The people then joined in
building the tabernacle with joy. The people gave many precious things to
build the tent of God.
6
Building
the tabernacle went smoothly. First of all, the building, the space of the
holy place and the most holy place, was built. In the innermost holy place,
the Ark of the Covenant was made. And they put a veil in front of the most
holy place to make it invisible.
7
The altar
of incense was placed before the veil. And the lamp was lit. There was also a
table for 12 loaves of bread. This place was called the holy place.
8
In front of
the entrance to the sanctuary was a washbasin made of women's brass mirror.
And before that was also an altar made of brass. This place where the
washbasin and the altar were placed was called 'the tabernacle courtyard.
9
Finally we
made a big fence. The three sides of the fence did not make doors for humans
to enter; only one door could enter the tabernacle.
10
All the work
of the tabernacle was made exactly as God told Moses. God was present in the
tabernacle as promised. This filled the clouds around the tabernacle.
11
On the way
to the wilderness, when the tabernacle was full of clouds, the people stopped
and stayed there. And when the clouds were lifted, they went off and marched
again. God delivered a pillar of cloud by day to protect the people on the
wilderness road and cared for it by the pillar of fire at night. Likewise,
the tabernacle was a sign that God, who guards Israel, is always with Israel.

The
tabernacle God gave to the Israelites in the wilderness is a symbol of Jesus,
¡°God with us.¡± The secret of salvation through Jesus is hidden in the
tabernacle. God also revealed Jesus through objects placed in the tabernacle.
13
There is
only one door to the tent where we can meet God, which means Jesus, the only
door we can meet God as a sinner. Jesus said this precisely.
¡°I am the
way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through
me.¡± (Jn
14:6)
The door of
the tabernacle means that we go on the path of salvation only through Jesus.
14
The burnt
altar in the tabernacle yard is dedicated to the sacrifice of animals,
shedding blood, sprinkling the blood on the altar, and burning animals. This
indicates that Jesus will forgive the sins of all believers in the future by
replacing all human sins and bleeding them on the cross.
15
The
washbasin contains water that cleanses the hands and feet of the priests.
This means that the sins we commit in our lives will also be cleansed if
anyone repents, relying on the crucifixion of Jesus.
16
The bread
table in the sanctuary means Jesus, the bread of life, and the lampstand
means Jesus, the light. At the altar of incense, the priest burned incense
every morning and evening and kept the incense burnt out, this means
symbolizing the help of Jesus, the true high priest.
17
The ark of
the covenant in the innermost sanctuary only the high priest could enter once
a year to meet God. The high priest must then take the blood of the sin
offering and sprinkle it on and before the cover of the Ark of the Covenant.
Then God came and met him. This symbolizes the shedding of Jesus' blood and
means that believers will meet God.
18
When Jesus
died on the cross, the veil of the temple was torn. It is now a declaration
that anyone who believes that Jesus died on behalf of sinners can come to God
through Jesus. Thus, through the tabernacle, God revealed abundantly Jesus who will
save us in the future.
We are to
be people of faith who realize how grateful and precious the salvation we
believe in Jesus through the grace of God through the tabernacle, and thank
God for, and practice God's will.
