Gospel
that cannot be stopped by the power of the world

[ Acts 5:29 ]
Peter and the other
apostles replied: ¡°We must obey God rather than human beings!
|
3
|
|
On the day
of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came to earth. The Holy Spirit did wonderful
things through the Apostles. When the apostles prayed, the sick were ill.
When the apostles prayed, demonic people were healed.
|
4
|
|
Some people
brought the sick along the way as Peter passed by. They laid a bed or a seat
on the side of Peter's path and laid the sick. Because they wanted Peter's
shadow to pass over the patients.
|

|
|
As many
followed Peter, the high priests and Sadducees began envious of the apostles.
So they arrested the apostles for no reason. And they locked the doors so
that they could keep the apostles in prison and escape. Powerful leaders
thought that if they put the apostles in prison, they would no longer be able
to preach the gospel.
|
6
|
|
A wonderful
thing happened to the apostles that night.
An angel of
God appeared and opened the prison door and brought the apostles out.
Angels
communicated the word of God to the apostles.
¡°Go, stand
in the temple courts and tell the people all about this new life.¡±
|
7
|
|
The
apostles obeyed God's word and went to the temple early in the morning, and
boldly testified of Jesus to the people.
|
8
|
|
At the same
time, a council of high priests and elders of Israel was held.
This is a
place to discuss what to do with the apostles in prison.
They sent
men to bring the apostles there.
|
9
|
|
Officials
who went to prison knew that the apostles were gone.
They
returned and informed of this.
¡°We found
the jail securely locked, with the guards standing at the doors;
but when we
opened them, we found no one inside.¡±
|
10
|
|
The people
who heard this report were very surprised and embarrassed.
At that
moment, someone came and told them,
¡°Look! The
men you put in jail are standing in the temple courts teaching the people.¡±
|
11
|
|
The temple
captain urgently went to the temple and seized the apostles again.
The priest
spoke harshly to the apostles who stood before the council.
¡°We gave
you strict orders not to teach in this name, Yet you have filled Jerusalem
with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man¡¯s blood.¡±
|
12
|
|
They
threatened the apostles not to bear witness of Jesus anymore.
Upon
hearing this, Peter and the other apostles responded in the same voice.
¡°We must
obey God rather than human beings! The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from
the dead—whom you killed by hanging him on a cross. God exalted him to his
own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might bring Israel to repentance
and forgive their sins. We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy
Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.¡±
|
13
|
|
When they
heard that Jesus was crucified and resurrected, they were angry and tried to
kill the apostles. At that time, a man named Gamaliel, who persuaded those
who had gathered there, said that worse things would happen if they killed
the apostles. So the apostles did not die.
|
14
|
|
After
beating the apostles, they warned and let them not again preach the gospel.
The
apostles left the council with great honor that they were beaten and
humiliated because of Jesus.
|
15
|
|
The
apostles rather strengthened their preaching gospel in the temple courtyard.
And they
went from house to house, teaching and messaging that Jesus is the Messiah.
The gospel became more widespread.
|
16
|
|
As they did
to the apostles, numerous powers hindered the spread of the gospel.
They
threatened and even killed people. However, they could not stop the spread of
God's gospel with their strength. Those powers have already disappeared, but
the gospel has been passed on to us.
|
17
|
|
We have
heard the Word today and must preach the gospel with the same boldness as the
Apostles. Whenever opportunities arise for those around me, we must be those
who preach Jesus as our Savior. God protects you as He protects the Apostles
who preached the gospel. And help you to win.
