Revival
in Ephesus
2
[ Acts 19:20 ]
In this way the word
of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.

God has
given the Apostle Paul an evangelistic mission for the Gentiles. The apostle
Paul did this faithfully. He traveled from place to place saying that Jesus
was the Messiah.
4
There were
people whom Paul met when he went to Ephesus. They were baptized by John the
Baptist but did not know about Jesus.
5
Paul
preached Jesus to them. They immediately accepted Jesus in their hearts. They
wanted to be baptized in the name of Jesus.
6
Paul
baptized them in the name of Jesus. When Paul laid his hands on their heads,
the Holy Spirit came upon them. Amazing gifts began to appear to them who
were filled with the Holy Spirit. There were twelve people there.
7
Paul boldly
preached the Word of God in the synagogue in Ephesus. Paul discussed the
kingdom of God with those who gathered there, and he urged them to accept the
kingdom of God.
8
But not
everyone accepted the gospel. The hardened ones did not believe Paul's
gospel, but rather went to people and cursed it.
9
Paul did
not give up preaching the gospel despite many difficulties. He took the
people who accepted the gospel and lectured the word of God every day in a
hall of Duranno. Paul preached the Word of God there for as long as two
years.
10
God
performed amazing miracles to people through Paul's hands. When Paul prayed,
the sick were healed. Some ghosts that haunted people were driven out.
11
Something
more amazing happened. When people put Paul's handkerchief and apron on the
sick people's body, their illness was healed and the ghost was cast out. God
saw their faith and performed miracles.
12
When people
saw God doing power through Paul, there were people who imitate themselves as
if they had the same power as Paul. The representative figures were the seven
sons of the Jewish high priest, Suceva.
13
They went
to a demon possessor and spoke as Paul did.
¡°In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come
out.¡±
They
thought that if they talked and acted like Paul, it would be something. They
wanted to get the attention of the people, so they did what Paul did.
14
The demon
in the man listened to them and spoke ridiculously.
¡°I know
Jesus, but I know Paul, but who are you?¡±
Those who
said this and demon possessed man attacked them.
15
The demon
possessed man was far more powerful than Suceva's sons. The demon possessed
beat them and ripped off all their clothes. Suceva's sons ran away from the
house naked.
They were
humiliated in exchange for the name of God.
16
The
believers who heard this news honored God more and praised the name of Jesus.
The
magicians brought their magic scrolls and burned them all to repentance.
When they
calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand
drachmas.

The Gospel
of Paul spread powerfully in the area of Ephesus overflowing with artemi
idols. Millions of people abandoned idols and believed in Jesus. God was with
Paul to make the gospel powerful.
The gospel
has power. No matter how difficult the land is, God will spread the power of
the Gospel. We too must share the gospel with Paul's earnestness to those who
need to hear it. Then God touches their hearts to make them believe in Jesus.
