Antioch Church Helps Jerusalem Church

2

[ Acts 11:29-30 ]

The disciples, each according to his ability, decided to provide help for the brothers living in Judea. This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.

3

Deacon Stephen of Jerusalem church, the first church, was martyred. Deacon Stephen's martyrdom caused the church members in Jerusalem to be in great trouble. They could no longer be in Jerusalem and began to scatter from place to place.

4

They did not give up preaching Jesus wherever they went. The gospel has spread beyond Judah and into a wider region.

5

Among the scattered believers, there were those who preached the gospel to Greek, not Jews. The Holy Spirit allowed the Greeks to accept the gospel. Many Greeks began to believe in Jesus.

6

The church built by the Greeks in Jesus is Antioch Church. The elders of the Jerusalem Church sent Barnabas here after hearing of the Antioch Church. After Barnabas came, the Antioch Church was revived even more.

7

They needed someone to help Barnabas to teach many believers. Barnabas visited Saul in Tarsus and encouraged them to work together. Barnabas and Paul preached together in Antioch.

8

The believers of the Antioch Church lived according to the words of Jesus, following the teachings of Barnabas and Paul. The people of Antioch were impressed to see the Antioch church members living by the words of Jesus. So the people of Antioch called them "Christians."

9

Some prophets came from Jerusalem to this Antioch Church. These people were empowered to foretell what would happen. They lived with the Christians in Antioch and lived their faith.

10

One day, the Holy Spirit came to one of the prophets called Agabus. agabus told people the words of prophecy that the Holy Spirit had told him. ¡°The Holy Spirit said to me, "There will be great famine throughout the world."

11

The prophet agabus was fulfilled correctly. A great famine came upon the world during the time of Emperor Gladius. Because of this famine, many believers in Jerusalem were in great difficulty.

12

The news came to believers in Antioch. The believers of Antioch Church decided to donate to help believers in Judea. With all the strength they could, they gave donations for the brothers in Judea.

13

Though far from the church of Antioch and Jerusalem, he made a donation with joy, thinking of Jesus 'suffering as one of his brothers' believers. Many donations have been collected.

14

To deliver this donation, Barnabas and Paul were sent to Jerusalem. The Antioch church members sent Barnabas and Paul hoping that the donation would be well received and would be a great strength for the church members in Jerusalem. Paul and Barnabas headed for the Church of Jerusalem with the donations of the Antioch Church believers.

15

Barnabas and Paul gave the Antioch Church gifts to the elders of the Church in Jerusalem. The Jerusalem Church was greatly comforted by the donations of the Antioch church members.

16

The Antioch Church showed that every church that believes in Jesus should help one another in times of difficulty and hardship. Everyone who believes in Jesus, even though they have different languages ??and regions, all belong to one church because Jesus is the Lord.

17

God wants your life to be like the believer in this Antioch church. Friends who believe in Jesus should not forget that even though the church is different, they are the same brother. You should be willing to help other people around you in times of trouble. I hope that I will be willing to help those in need, like the Saints in Antioch, to be a people of faith who love Jesus.
