Faith
is manifested in good deeds
2
[ James 2:26 ]
As the body without the spirit is dead, so
faith without deeds is dead.
3
John 3:16 says, ¡°For
God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.¡±
4
Those who believe in Jesus will have
eternal life. This is equivalent to the expression 'We are saved by faith in
Jesus.
5
Salvation is a gift given only to
those who have faith in Jesus.
¡°For it is by grace you have been
saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--¡± (Ephesians
2:8)
6
Jesus said that those who receive
salvation as a gift of faith must live a life that glorifies God through good
deeds.
¡°In the same way, let your light
shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in
heaven.¡±(Matthew 5:16)
7
Those who have received the grace of
salvation through faith must give glory to God through good deeds. The book
of James gives one example of right and false beliefs.
8
You mentioned, for example, a brother
or sister who needs to eat and wear. A person who says that he has good faith
comes to them and says: ¡°I hope God will bless you. Keep your body warm and
eat a lot of food.¡±
9
The man only said very good words to
them, but did not give any practical help. The poor are still hungry and
shivering in the cold because they have nothing to wear. His good words
didn't help them.
10
On the other hand, one person with a
different form of faith prepared what they needed. The person helped them
warm their bodies. And he prepared food to solve their hunger.
11
One person speaks only good words,
and has not done anything to help the poor. The other, however, did good
deeds that met people's needs with deeds. The Bible says that faith that does
not follow good behavior is dead faith, or false faith.
¡°In the same way, faith by itself, if
it is not accompanied by action, is dead.¡±(James 2:17)
12
The ancestors of faith Abraham showed
us what true faith is to do. God gave one command to see Abraham's faith. It
commanded him to offer his only one son, Isaac.
13
Abraham had faith in the goodness of
God who gave the order. He believed in God and did not hesitate to act
according to the word; he bound Isaac and put it on the altar to offer as a
sacrifice to God.
14
At the moment when Abraham lifted up
the sword and tried to sacrifice Isaac, the angel of God called Abraham from
heaven to stop the hand with the sword. God acknowledged Abraham's true faith
to act according to what God said. God said to Abraham, who proved his faith
through action, ¡°God's friend.¡±
¡°And the scripture was fulfilled that
says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as
righteousness," and he was called God's friend.¡±(James 2:23)
15
Another person who showed faith in
action is Rahab, a prostitute who lived in Jericho. She hid the spies of
Israel who came to see Jericho. And she helped them return safely.
16
Rahab lived in Jericho, but she had
faith that God was the only true God. Helping the spies is a dangerous thing
that could lead to death as a traitor. However, because she had faith in God,
she was able to do good deeds to help God's people.
17
The Bible says that the true faith of
the saved people is revealed by good deeds. The Bible says that there is
faith, and those who do not do good are like those who do not have souls. It
means that a person without a soul is a person's faith as if he were a dead
person.
¡°As the body without the spirit is
dead, so faith without deeds is dead.¡±(James 2:26)
18
True faith is proved by good deeds.
Those who have true faith obey when the Holy Spirit tells them to do good in
their hearts. On the other hand, people with false faith do not act good
because they do not obey the Word of the Holy Spirit.
We are blessed people who have
received salvation through faith. When the Holy Spirit leads us to good
deeds, we must become servants who immediately obey and glorify God.
