Bible verse : Luke 16:8 (NIV)
"The master commended the dishonest
manager because he had acted shrewdly.
For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind
than are the people of the light.

There
was a very rich man in a village.
This rich man took his possessions and lent them to those in need.
The villagers went to this rich man and borrowed money and borrowed grain.
4
This
rich man had a steward. He trusted this steward and let him manage all his
property. The owner entrusted everything to him, trusting that the steward
would take good care of his property.
5
But
one day, the owner heard the news he didn't want to hear.
¡°Hey, do you know? The steward of your house, whom you trusted, is wasting
your property as he pleases.¡± The owner was shocked to hear this.
6
Upon
hearing this, the owner checked what the steward had done.
And he found that his steward had wasted his fortune. The owner was very
angry.
7
So
he called the steward who wasted his property and said, ¡°How dare you do this
to me? Now I can no longer use you as my steward, so in a few days you will
have to settle this matter and cease stewardship of my house.¡±

The
evil steward, who was told by his master to quit the stewardship, realized
that he was in trouble. ¡°Since I am old enough to do farming, I have no
strength and cannot work, so I am really ashamed of others.¡±
From then on, he began to weave his wisdom on how to live his life.
9
After
thinking about it for a while, the steward came up with a good idea.
¡°Yes, because I am still the steward. I need to win people's hearts.
Then, even if I am removed from the stewardship, they will help me. ¡±
10
The
steward, who thought of a plan he could live with, rushed to work.
The steward called all those who were indebted to his master.
¡°How much do you owe our master?¡± ¡°Yes, I have a hundred gallons of olive
oil.¡±
"Oh yeah. Then write fifty gallons on your deed.¡±
11
Another
was asked how much he owed. ¡°A hundred bushels of wheat,¡± the steward
replied. ¡°Your document is here, so write eighty bucels.¡±
The steward forgave people's debts greatly. The transaction book was also
rewritten accordingly.
12
This
steward did it to prepare for the time when he was kicked out of the
stewardship. It was because he thought that when he was fired from the
stewardship and had no place to go, at least the people who had their debts
forgiven would not ignore him and help him.
13
People
whose debts were forgiven by stewards without knowing why were very grateful
to their owners. Upon learning all of this, the master admired the wisdom of
his steward, who had won the hearts of others to make his own way.
14
The
master called his steward. He praised the steward greatly for making friends
of others by using the master's wealth to make a living for himself.
15
This
story was told by Jesus. There is a reason why Jesus told his disciples about
unjust stewards. It is so that even those who do not know God can realize
that they are using wealth well for their own survival.
16
After speaking, Jesus spoke to his disciples. ¡°Make
friends with unrighteous riches. Then, when the riches are gone, they will
welcome you into eternity.¡±
The
words of Jesus are telling us that those who can be praised by God in heaven are wise people who use
everything entrusted to them properly according to God's will.
It is because when we go to heaven, we will be highly praised by God for his
good deeds.
17
Friends
who believe in Jesus must be those who wisely use the things God has given to
them to please God. When such people later go to heaven and stand before God,
they will receive great praise from God.
We need the wisdom of faith to help those in need with the money God gives us
and to enrich others with what we can do.
Such a person will later become a man of faith who will be highly praised by
Jesus when he enters the kingdom of heaven.
