Miracle at the Spring of Siloam

Bible verse : John
9:1-3 (NIV)
As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth.
His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents,
that he was born blind?" "Neither this man nor his parents
sinned,"
said Jesus, "but this happened so that the work of God might be
displayed in his life.

Jesus was walking with
his disciples. As Jesus was walking along the road, he saw a man who had been
blind since birth begging from people.
4
When the disciples saw Jesus
looking at the man, they asked him a question. ¡°Teacher, was it because of
his own sin that he was born blind?
Or is it because of the sins of his parents?¡± At the time, Jewish society had
the idea that the reason a person was born with a disability was because of
the sins of the baby or the parents.
5
Jesus
answered the disciples¡¯ questions. ¡°The reason he was born blind was not
because his parents committed a sin.¡± Jesus gave a different answer than what
people at the time thought. And then he said something amazing.
6
¡°The reason this man was blind
from birth was so that God could reveal God¡¯s work through this man¡¯s life.¡±
Jesus said that the reason this man was blind from birth was because God had
hidden a secret to reveal God through this man.

After
saying this, Jesus approached the man. Then he spat on the ground and made
clay out of it. And he put the clay on the eyes of the blind man.
8
And he said to the man, ¡°Go and
wash in the spring of Siloam.¡±
Siloam means ¡®Sent¡¯. When this man heard Jesus tell him to go wash at the
spring of Siloam, he immediately obeyed.
He believed the words of Jesus and went to the spring of Siloam.
9
After arriving at the spring of
Siloam, this man obeyed Jesus¡¯ words.
He washed the mud he had put on his eyes in the spring.
At that moment, the eyes of a person who had never seen before began to see.
An amazing miracle happened.

This man, who was able to see,
returned to the place where Jesus was with great joy. Jesus was not there,
but many other people were passing by.
People who saw the blind man who always begged there became able to see and
were surprised. When neighbors and people found out that this person was
previously blind and begging, they asked each other.
¡°Isn¡¯t this the man who sat begging?¡±
11
Some of them said,
¡°Yes, this is the man.¡± But another person said, ¡°Isn¡¯t this the same person
who used to beg? ¡°He¡¯s just someone like that,¡± one person insisted.
They couldn't even think of a blind person opening their eyes, so they
couldn't accept the sight they saw before their eyes.
12
The person who obeyed Jesus¡¯ words and gained sight spoke
directly.
¡°I am the man you knew.¡± After hearing this, the people asked the man again.
¡°How did you open your eyes?¡±
13
The
man told them what had happened to him. ¡°The man named Jesus made some clay,
put it on my eyes, and told me to go and wash in the spring of Siloam.
I went and washed, and this is how I saw.¡± The man who obeyed Jesus¡¯ words
and was able to see testified to others that it was Jesus who did it.
14
The people took this
man to the Pharisees, who were said to serve God well. However, the Pharisees
did not believe that Jesus had given him sight, so they kicked the man out of
the synagogue. Jesus appeared before this man who had been kicked out of the
synagogue and asked him: ¡°Do you believe me?¡±
15
It was the first time he met Jesus after he opened his eyes, so
he did not even know it was Jesus. After discovering that the person speaking
to him was Jesus, who had opened his eyes, this man confessed his faith to
Jesus. ¡°Lord, I believe.¡± And he knelt down before Jesus.
16
People ignored this blind man who was begging on the street. But
Jesus knew that God would heal this man so that he would become a witness to
others about the greatness of God. As Jesus said, he became a person who
clearly believed in and confessed Jesus more than any other person, and
became a person who lived his whole life confessing that Jesus had cured his
luck and revealing what God had done for him.

Through today¡¯s message, we must not make the mistake of judging
others based on their opinions. We must realize that no matter what person it
is, God has something to do through him or her. Also, you should not be
disappointed even if you seem insignificant. I hope that every time you
remember this incident, Jesus healed a man who was born blind and made him a
person who testifies to God's work for the rest of his life. You must believe
that God has something to do through you and strive to become a person of
faith who always enjoys obeying His words.
