Jesus shed tears while looking at Jerusalem

2

Bible verse : Luke 19:41-42(NIV)

As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said,
"If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace--
but now it is hidden from your eyes.

Jesus came to this earth in human form and stayed on this earth for 33 years.
During his last three years before going to heaven, he devoted himself solely to doing God's will.
He lived to achieve salvation on the cross to save the whole world.

4

Today¡¯s message is about a special thing Jesus did before carrying the cross.
Jesus went up to Jerusalem with his disciples.
When Jesus arrived at Bethphage and Bethany near the Mount of Olives, he gave special instructions to his two disciples.
¡°If you go to the village across the street, you will find a young donkey tied that no one has ever ridden. Tell its owner that I am riding and have him bring the donkey.¡±

5

The disciples obeyed exactly as Jesus told them. They said to the donkey¡¯s owner, ¡°Jesus is going to use this donkey.¡± Hearing this, the owner willingly gave his donkey to disciples. The disciples returned to Jesus with a young donkey.

6

The disciples took off their clothes and spread them on the back of the donkey that Jesus was riding. When Jesus entered the city of Jerusalem riding on a donkey, the people welcomed him as if they were welcoming a king.
They took off their clothes and spread them on the road and praised the Lord loudly.

7

The people praised and shouted about Jesus. ¡°Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord. ¡°Peace in heaven and glory in the highest¡±
The way they greeted Jesus was like welcoming a king returning from a great battle.

8

The Pharisees who were watching this scene were very displeased with people praising Jesus. So they said to Jesus, ¡°Teacher, rebuke your disciples.¡±
They demanded that people stop praising Jesus.

9

Jewish religious leaders, including the Pharisees, hated Jesus very much.
Even though they saw the miracles Jesus performed on earth and heard His words, they did not believe in Him. Rather, they were envious and jealous that Jesus was respected by people more than they were the Pharisees.

10

After hearing what the Pharisees said, Jesus spoke firmly to them.
¡°If you do not let these people speak, the stones will scream.¡±
This means that if they silence people, God will make the stones speak so that they can say that Jesus is the true king who came to this earth.

11

After that, Jesus arrived near the city of Jerusalem.
As Jesus looked at the city of Jerusalem, he suddenly burst into tears and wept.

12

Jesus said this to the city of Jerusalem: ¡°Jerusalem! The time will come when your enemies will pile up mud against you and surround you, besieging you on every side. And they will trample on you and your children with you.
Also, not one stone will be left upon another.
This is because you did not understand the time when God came.¡±

13

Although Israel was specially chosen by God, it did not accept Jesus as the Messiah. Instead, they hated him and even tried to kill him. Jesus knew in advance that Jerusalem would be greatly judged and destroyed because of their sins, and how great the misery would be, and he shed tears with a pitiful heart.
This judgment could have been avoided if the Israelites had accepted the Messiah.

14

Jesus, who shed tears when he saw Jerusalem being destroyed, will return to this earth as a judge on the last day. On that day, those who did not believe in Jesus will be judged and thrown into eternal hellfire. The judgment of that day will be a judgment incomparable to the collapse of the walls of Jerusalem.

15

No one can escape this judgment. No matter how much money or power they have, there is not a single person who does not believe in Jesus and can avoid this judgment. There is only one way to avoid judgment.

16

The only way to be saved is to believe in Jesus, who came to this earth to save us.
The biggest meaning of being saved by believing in Jesus is that we will not be judged on the last day.
We must realize that we have received this amazing grace and live with gratitude every day.

17

We who have received this great grace must have the same heart as Jesus when we look at those around us who do not believe in Jesus.
We must have a heart that can shed tears as we think of the great judgment and punishment they will face if they do not believe in Jesus.
And we must become people of faith who strive to preach Jesus to those around us who do not believe in Jesus so that we can take at least one more person to heaven before Jesus comes to judge this earth.
