Let¡¯s have the right faith to respect our parents

Bible verse : Genesis 9:26-27 (NIV)
He also said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem; and let
Canaan be his servant.
May God enlarge Japheth, and let him dwell in the tents of Shem, and let
Canaan be his servant."

God judged the sin-stained world with water for
40 days. The only people who survived the flood judgment were the eight
people on the ark that Noah built.
God started this world again with eight people who served God well.
|

|
|
After the water judgment was over, Noah's
family and all the living creatures that were on the boat came out of the
boat. God promised Noah that he would allow people and all living things that
came out of the boat to multiply again on the earth. And He promised with a
rainbow that He would never again judge by water.

Noah and his family lived very diligently,
keeping the word of God.
Noah's three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, each had many children.
From then on, people spread throughout the earth through Noah's three sons.

Father Noah started farming vines. He planted
and tended vines. Noah's grape farming was a great success. He ended up with
a very good harvest of grapes.
|
7
|
|
Noah
took the grapes he had harvested and made wine. The wine was very tasty and
aged well. ¡°Thank you, God, for giving me good results!¡± Noah was happy with
God. Noah happily drank wine in the tent and became drunk, took off all his
clothes and fell into a deep sleep.

|
|
The
first person to notice Noah naked was his second son, Ham.
When Ham stopped by his father's tent, he saw his father lying naked and
drunk.
Ham was displeased with his father being naked and drunk.
|
9
|
|
Ham came out of his father's tent and told his
brothers Shem and Japheth, who were outside, what he had seen. ¡°You guys, go
into my father¡¯s tent now.
I think he¡¯s drinking too much and he¡¯s acting a little strange.¡±
Ham ridiculed and criticized his father Noah¡¯s behavior in front of his
brothers.
|
10
|
|
The faces of Shem and Japheth became very hard
when they heard what Ham said. They thought about how to make up for their
father's mistake.
Then they put their clothes on their shoulders and walked backwards into the
tent.
|
11
|
|
The two men who entered the tent backwards
covered their father Noah's nakedness with the clothes they draped over their
shoulders.
They came in backwards and covered their father so as not to see his naked
body.
|

|
|
After
some time, Noah, who had fallen asleep while drunk with wine, woke up. She found out that Noah had been
criticizing her and making her a laughing st ock while she was asleep. Noah
prophesied a curse against Ham.
¡°You will be cursed. You will be the lowest servant of your brothers.¡±
|
13
|
|
Although
their father made a mistake, Noah prophesied the following in the na me of
God to Shem and Japheth, who covered up their shame with a respectfu l heart.
¡°And he said, Blessed be the LORD God
of Shem; and Canaan shall be his serv
ant. God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of
Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.¡± [Genesis 9:26-27]

|
|
Shem, Ham, and Japheth were brothers, but their
respect for their parents was
clearly revealed when their father made a mistake. Ham laughed and
criticized his father's mistake,
but in the same situation, Shem and Japheth acted to pre vent their father from being
embarrassed.
The two men's actions showed how much they always respected their father.
|
15
|
|
Shem and Japheth, who honored their father,
were blessed in the name of God. However, Ham, who did not respect his
father, was cursed by God.
God also tells us in the fifth commandment of the Ten Commandments what
blessings those who honor their parents will receive. Let's read it together.
["Honor your father and your
mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving
you. (Exodus 20:12)]
|
16
|
|
Respecting our parents is not something we can
or cannot do. It is a command from God that must be carried out. People who
believe in Jesus and become children of God are people who keep and follow
God¡¯s commands.
We must obey God's commands and become people who respect our parents like
Shem and Japheth.
|
17
|
|
Are you a person who
respects your parents like Shem and Japheth?
Or are you someone like Ham who does not respect his parents and behaves
carelessly? Aren¡¯t you taking your parents¡¯ words lightly?
Are you saying or doing something you shouldn't say to your parents?
Through today's word, we hope to take a look at how we behave towards our
parents on a daily basis and become people like Shem and Japheth who have a
beautiful heart and respect for their parents.
