Jerusalem
Church Believers Who Put the Word into Practice
|
2
|
|
Bible verse : Acts 4:32 (NIV)
All the believers were
one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his
own, but they shared everything they had.

When
Jesus went to heaven, he promised to send the Holy Spirit to this earth.
That promise was fulfilled on Pentecost, the 10th day after Jesus went to
heaven. Believers who received the Holy Spirit began to courageously preach
Jesus to people.

|
After
the Holy Spirit came, an amazing thing happened when the eleven apostles,
including Peter, preached Jesus to the people.
The apostles clearly told people that Jesus was the Messiah who came to this
world. The apostles told them that He died on the cross and was resurrected
to save us.

|
After
hearing the words preached by the apostles, the people realized that they had
caused Jesus, the Messiah, to die on the cross. They repented of the wrong
they had done. And they came to accept and believe in Jesus, the Messiah.

As
many as 3,000 people believed in Jesus in one day. Many people were baptized
and became saved people. People who came to believe in Jesus gathered to
listen to the words taught by the apostles. In this way, the first church,
the Jerusalem church, was established.

The believers in the Jerusalem
church began to lead a completely different life than before. They were eager
to listen to the words of Jesus delivered by the apostles. They didn't just
stop at listening to the Word.
After listening to the sermon, they gathered together and talked about what
they felt through the words taught and shared the grace that God had given
them.

|
Whenever they gathered together,
they shared bread as Jesus commanded.
They ate together every time they gathered and became a family united by the
precious blood of Jesus. Believers in Jesus cared for and loved each other.
|

|
|
They
gathered together and devoted themselves to praying. When they encountered a
problem, they first prayed to God, asked him for guidance, and did as he
asked.
If any of the believers were in trouble, they comforted them and prayed for
them.

The
Holy Spirit showed even more amazing miracles through the apostles. Peter and
John healed a man who was begging at the temple gate because he could not
walk. Peter took the man's right hand and shouted, ¡°In the name of Jesus of
Nazareth,
I command you to walk!¡± and the man jumped up and started walking.
The people gathered there were amazed to see this miracle.

People served God more sincerely
as they saw the amazing miracles that occurred through the apostles.
Believers followed the teachings of Jesus and practiced loving their
neighbors as themselves. They lived together and shared and used the things
they had. They took it for granted that they did not claim their items as
their own just because someone else was using them, but shared them with
others.
|

|
|
Others gave their wealth to the
poor. They also sold their belongings and gave the money to those in need.
They believed that God gave them wealth to help those in need, and they
helped the poor with gratitude.
|
13
|
|
Among them, a man named Barnabas
came to the apostles with the money he had sold his field. He gave the money
to the apostles and told them to use it for the poor. This Barnabas was the
one who was later sent as a missionary along with Paul.

|
|
The
believers of the Jerusalem Church gathered in the temple yard every day to
worship God with one heart in love for Jesus.
And they happily invited the believers to their home and had a meal with
them.
They gathered together to praise and glorify God.
|
15
|
|
Even
people who did not believe in Jesus were greatly moved by the kindness of the
Jerusalem church believers as they loved each other and helped those in need,
and began to praise them. Seeing them believe in Jesus, help their neighbors,
and love them, the Holy Spirit allowed more and more people to believe in
Jesus.
The number of believers who believed in Jesus and were baptized increased
every day.
|

|
|
We
who believe in Jesus and become children of God must live according to the
example set by the believers in the Jerusalem church.
We must first be eager to hear and learn the word of God. When we do
something, we must not do what we think, but pray to God and act according to
His will. Second, we must work harder to love other friends.
You must have a big heart to help others with their needs. Even if it is
yours, you must be willing to share it if there is someone who needs it more
than you. We must be willing to reach out and help those in need who need our
help.
|
17
|
|
When we who believe in Jesus
listen to the word of God and show love to other friends according to the
word, the hearts of those friends will open, and many of those friends will
follow you to church and meet Jesus. It will.
Therefore, we who believe in Jesus must become people who practice the word
of God in order to receive praise not only from those who believe in Jesus
but also from those who do not believe in Jesus.
