Then one of the Twelve--the one called Judas Iscariot--went to the chief priests
and asked, "What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?" So they counted out for him thirty silver coins.
From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

Judas agrees to betray his teacher

Then one of the Twelve--the one called Judas Iscariot--went to the chief priests and asked, "What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?" So they counted out for him thirty silver coins. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over. Matthew  26:14-16

3

In Jesus¡¯ time, many religious leaders tried to kill Jesus because a lot of people followed Jesus. ¡°I¡¯m so sick because of Jesus. He is acting just like God!¡± ¡°That¡¯s right! Because there are many eyes in day time, we have to know where Jesus stays at night so we can arrest him.¡±

4

However, one guy came and said he would tell where Jesus stayed at night. ¡°I have something to tell you. I know where Jesus is at night. I can tell you the place. Just pay me thirty silver coins.¡±

5

When the priest and the religious leader heard this, they gave Judas thirty silver coins with pleasure. ¡°Trust me; I will help you catch Jesus.¡±

6

Do you know who this person is?  Yes, he is Judas Iscariot. We call him Judas Iscariot because he is from the province of Iscariot.

7

He met Jesus and became a disciple of Jesus but he betrayed Jesus, his teacher. Even though he heard the word of Jesus many times, he was not able to apply it into his life.  So he did a disgraceful work, he sold Jesus because of his greed.

8

Judas went up to Gethsemane where Jesus was praying. He brought some Roman soldiers to arrest Jesus. And he gave them the signal. ¡°The one I kiss is the man; arrest him.¡±

10

At dawn, many soldiers came to Gethsemane to arrest Jesus. In front of the crowd, there was Judas.

11

Judas greeted Jesus, ¡°Greetings! Teacher,¡± and kissed him. This is the signal to inform the soldiers that the person whom Judas greeted was Jesus.

12

¡°He is Jesus. Arrest him!¡± Jesus was arrested because of Judas¡¯ betrayed.

13

The Roman soldiers persecuted Jesus. The governor, Pilate knew Jesus was innocent but he tortured Jesus because he was afraid of the crowd.

14

He finally decided to crucify Jesus in Golgotha. Jesus died on the cross. His body was torn, and he shed all his blood. Do you think Jesus died because he was weak? Of course NOT! Jesus was almighty. However he died on the cross because he carried all of our sins to give us eternal life. He died for us.

15

Therefore, whoever believes in Jesus, who died on the cross our salvation, will receive eternal life from God.  You can surely enter heaven as you believe in Jesus. Especially for this week, I encourage you to remember the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus and give thanks to his grace and love. God bless you!
