The
resurrection of Jesus
|

|
|
[NKJV] Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things that I have
commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.¡± Amen.

Jesus was arrested by the Roman soldiers because
Judas Iscariot had betrayed him. They led him away to Governor Pilate. Jesus was crucified by the
Roman soldiers although he didn¡¯t have any sin. Jesus said his last word, ¡°It
is finished.¡± And he died on the cross. Jesus breathed his last; at that moment
the earth shook and darkness came over the whole land. There was sadness about
the death of the Son of God. When they saw this, they exclaimed, ¡°Surely he was
the Son of God.¡±

|
Joseph
from Arimathea went to Pilate, he asked for the body of Jesus to bury him in
his tomb. |
5
|
|
The
body of Jesus was buried in the tomb provided by Joseph from Arimathea. They
mourned deeply. |
6
|
|
The Roman soldiers guarded the tomb as securely as
they should. They secured the tomb hard for fear that his disciples would come,
steal the body, and tell the people that he had been raised from the dead. Friday and Saturday, two days
passed and nothing happened. At last Sunday, very early in the morning, the day
Jesus prophesied that he would rise again came. So, the soldiers secured the
tomb tighter.
|
7
|
|
After
three days, there was a violent earthquake, for an angel came down from heaven
and rolled back the stone from the tomb and sat on it. His appearance was like
lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. |
8
|
|
At
that time, when Mary Magdalene and the other Mary who would anoint Jesus¡¯ body
saw what happened and they were so afraid and shook. The angel said to them,
¡°Don¡¯t be afraid, are you looking for Jesus who was crucified? He is not here,
He has risen! Just as he said so He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.¡± |
9
|
|
The
women were afraid but when they heard about Jesus¡¯ resurrection they hurried
away from the tomb. |
10
|
|
Suddenly
Jesus appeared to the women who were terrified and said, ¡°Greetings.¡± |
11
|
|
When
the women heard the word of Jesus, they clasped his feet and worshiped him.
Jesus said, ¡°Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.¡± |
12
|
|
After
the earthquake, some of the guards who saw the angel went into the city and
reported to the chief priests. |
13
|
|
¡°Chief
priest! Chief priest! A serious thing
has happened! After the earthquake, the angel came down from heaven and went to
the tomb and rolled back the stone.¡± And Jesus seemed to have been risen. When
the chief priests and the elders heard about it they were surprised. |
14
|
|
The
chief priests and the elders had met and discussed about that happened.
¡°I
have a good idea, we will spread a rumor that Jesus disciples came during the
night and stole his body away.¡±
|
15
|
|
The chief priests gave the soldiers a large sum of
money and asked them to spread a bad rumor to the people. So the soldiers took
the money and did as they were instructed. This rumor has been widely spread
throughout the land even to this day.
|
16
|
|
At
that time, the women who went to Jesus¡¯ tomb reported to the disciples what
Jesus had told them. ¡°Jesus wants to meet you in Galilee.
Hurry up, let¡¯s go to Galilee.¡± |
17
|
|
Then
the disciples ran to the mountain
of Galilee where Jesus
had told them to go. |
18
|
|
They
bowed down and worshiped Jesus who had rose again from the dead. But amazingly
the appearance of his resurrected body was like the same as before he died. |
19
|
|
Jesus
said to the disciples, ¡°Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with
you always, to the very end of the age.¡± |
20
|
|
Jesus,
who had died on the cross, shows us that if we believe in Him; We will be
resurrected from the dead and enter the eternal glory of God. Therefore, those
who believe in Jesus must trust what he has promised and that surely Jesus is
with us always, to the very end of the age. We should be faithful Christians to
testify about the resurrection of Jesus. |
