When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

The blood that was shed for my sins

2

[NKJV] John19:30
So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ¡°It is finished!¡± And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

3

¡°Crucify Jesus!¡± ¡°Crucify Jesus!¡± People cried out like angry lions.

4

Pilate, in the council, was thrown into confusion. ¡°Why? You have said no good reason to crucify Jesus? I have found in Him nothing to have him put to death.¡±

5

The crowd didn¡¯t answer Pilate, but they continued to shout louder. ¡°Crucify Jesus!¡± ¡°Crucify Jesus!¡±

6

Pilate, fearing the people, thought to himself, ¡®I should give Jesus over to be crucified, or there may be a riot.¡¯ Pilate found nothing wrong with Jesus. But he was afraid of undermining his position because of a riot.

7

¡°I will give you Jesus as you want. But I am innocent of this man¡¯s blood.¡± Pilate washed his hands as a symbol of his innocence.

8

¡°Don¡¯t worry about it. Let his blood be on us and on our children. Crucify Jesus!¡±

9

¡°Crucify Jesus,¡± Pilate said and handed sinless Jesus over to be crucified.

10

Roman soldiers flogged Jesus with a whip. They treated Jesus as a sinner. Blood gushed out from the whip wounds.

11

The soldiers began to mock Jesus. They took off his own clothes and put a purple robe on him and put a staff in his right hand.

12

They twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. Then they knelt before him in a mocking reverence. ¡°Hail! King of the Jews,¡± they said. They took the staff and struck Him on the head several times and spit on Him.

13

After having mocked Him, they put his own clothes back on and led him away to be crucified. Carrying His own heavy cross, Jesus went on foot. The soldiers flogged in ridicule of Him.

14

Jesus was bound as he climbed up to the execution place, called Golgotha. The crowd brought upon sinless Jesus shame and ridicule. Carrying His cross, He stumbled several times because of the weight of the cross. The way Jesus walked on was covered in His own blood.

15

Arriving at the hill, Golgotha, Roman soldiers laid Him on the cross. And they nailed His hands up on the cross. Jesus suffered the agony to be torn up.

16

Roman soldiers stood at the cross with Jesus. He cried out in great agony. ¡°My God, My God, why have You abandoned me?¡± (It is the only way for man to be saved so that¡¯s why Jesus, the only Son of God, was sent into the world).

17

Jesus tasted the agonies of death that the sinners suffered. Taking the guilt upon Himself for us, Jesus died on the cross. Jesus died on the cross so that whoever believes the blood of Jesus that was shed will never see death.

It is the Passion Week, this week let us remember the love of Jesus who suffered on the cross to save us. As Jesus died on the cross for our sins, we, believing in Jesus, meet God and we can have eternal life in Him. Remembering the love of Jesus, please spend time this week thinking about what Jesus has done with a thankful heart.
