A Woman Prepares for
Jesus¡¯ Burial
2
I tell you the truth,
wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will
also be told, in memory of her." [Matthew 26:13]
3
Jesus knows everything and he knew
that he would die soon.
So, before He died He told the
disciples about his own death.
4
Jesus went to Bethany where Lazarus his friend, lived.
5
Jesus went to Simon¡¯s house in Bethany.
This Simon had been healed from
suffering from leprosy.
Simon invited Jesus to a meal.
6
Jesus and the disciples were eating
the meal that Simon had prepared.
While they were there, a woman came
beside Jesus.
7
The woman poured out perfume and its
smell filled the whole room.
She began to pour it on Jesus¡¯ head.
It fell from his head to his toe.
8
The jar of perfume that she poured
out filled up the whole room with the sweet fragrance.
The disciples were surprised when
they saw this.
9
And the disciples became upset and
said to her,
¡°Why did you waste that jar of
expensive perfume?
If you would have sold that,
you could have shared it with the poor people.¡±
The disciples stared at her in anger.
10
At that time, Jesus
said to them ¡°Why are you bothering this woman?
She has done a
beautiful thing to me.¡±
Jesus praised what she
had done. And He continued:
11
¡°The poor will be with
you in the future.
But I
will not stay with you for a long time.
This woman poured the perfume
on me for the preparation of my burial.
The disciples were
confused by Jesus¡¯ saying.
12
There is a custom that when a human
died in Judea,
perfume should be applied on the dead
body. Jesus said that the woman had done it. The woman received Jesus¡¯
blessing because she poured perfume on His body in preparation for His burial
after His death on the cross for our sins.
13
The woman was very
grateful for Jesus¡¯ Grace.
So she gave Jesus the
most precious thing among the things that she had.
And it was a big honor
that she prepared Jesus¡¯ burial.
14
Jesus continued to say ¡°wherever
this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be
told, in memory of her.¡±
15
Today, we can hear God¡¯s words about
the woman which proved to become Jesus¡¯ prophecy. Because Jesus is God, he
knew everything that he said would come to past. He is the Almighty God who
knows all things that will happen in the future.
16
The woman was
praised because she gave Jesus the most precious thing among the things that
she had and became known to everyone wherever the Gospel is spread. We cannot
give a jar of very expensive perfume like the woman did but we should
remember Jesus¡¯ love when He died on the cross for our sins. When we love and
serve Jesus with all our heart, Jesus is surely praised and He gives us more
blessings.
17
I hope that you try to become a
blessed people who do good things
for Jesus with all your heart for
Jesus¡¯ praise and glory.
