1

Let's store up for ourselves treasures in heaven!!

2

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.[Matthew 6:19~20]

3

When we see movies or read books, we always see people fighting each other and trying to steal each other¡¯s treasures or things.

4

But Jesus talks about a different kind of treasure in the Bible.

5

Jesus said that there are two kinds of treasures.

The first treasure is the treasure we can see, that can be stolen or moth and rust can destroy it, it won¡¯t stay with us forever.

The other treasure however can¡¯t be taken away and will stay with us even after we die. Let¡¯s look at which treasure is which.

6

Many people think that money is the greatest treasure, because they can use it to buy whatever they want, so they work really hard every day to make more money.

7

So from morning to night they work to make more and more money.

They often don¡¯t have time for their family or friends.

8

Often times they can lose their money.

Maybe someone steals it, or they lose it or sometimes they spend their money on something that dies.

9

Sometimes the people work very hard to earn more money but then they become sick and can¡¯t even use the money they worked for, and they feel like their life was a waste.

10

So this is one of the treasures that goes away.

Jesus said that all treasures in the world will go away because people steal them or moth and rust destroy them, no treasure on earth will last forever.

So they are useless treasures.

11

Then, what treasures can we store up that won¡¯t go away?

We can store up treasures in heaven instead.

People who follow God¡¯s commandments can store up for themselves these heavenly treasures.

12

Jesus summed all of God¡¯s commandments into two commandments.

The first is to love God with all of your heart, all of your strength, all of your soul, and all of your mind.

By following this you are doing the will of God and storing up treasures in heaven rather than earth.

13

God wants everyone to go to heaven, so it¡¯s also important to tell people about Jesus.

"Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever." - Daniel 12:3

14

The second commandment Jesus gave us was to love your neighbor as yourself.

You can do this by helping people who need help, if someone is hurt you want to help them.

15

If someone is poor and doesn¡¯t have any money you can help them by giving them food to eat or money to buy food.

16

By doing these things you are storing up treasures in heaven rather than earth.

17

And the treasures you store up in heaven can¡¯t be stolen or destroyed!

18

So we should love God first, then love our neighbors as ourselves, and by following these two commandments we are following all of God¡¯s commandments and storing up for ourselves treasures in heaven.
