Jesus
Washed the Disciples¡¯ Feet
|
2
|
|
You call me 'Teacher'
and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am.
Now that I, your Lord and
Teacher, have washed your feet,
you also should
wash one another's feet. [John 13:13-14]

Jesus is the Son of God, he
came to this world to save us.
Jesus knew very well the
time he should leave this world.
So, in every thing Jesus
did, each of them has a meaning.

|
|
One day, Jesus was having a
supper with the disciples.
Jesus stood up while
eating.
|
5
|
|
Jesus took off his robe.
He took a towel and tied it
on his waist.
The disciples got very
curious upon seeing Jesus¡¯ deed.
|
6
|
|
Jesus poured water in the
basin
and he began to wash the
feet of the disciples.
He dried the feet with the
towel after he washed them.
|
7
|
|
Without knowing anything,
the disciples stayed still as Jesus worked
One by one, Jesus washed
and dried the feet of the disciples.
Jesus also washed the feet
of Judas Iscariot, who was going to betray Jesus.
|

|
|
When it was time to wash
the feet of Simon Peter,
Simon Peter asked Jesus.
¡°Jesus, why are you trying
to wash my feet?¡±
|
9
|
|
Jesus spoke to Peter.
"You do not realize now what I am doing, but
later you will understand."
And he tried to wash Peter¡¯s
feet.
|
10
|
|
But Peter told Jesus,
¡°No. You shall never wash
my feet.¡±
Peter could not allow Jesus,
who was his teacher, to wash his feet.
|
11
|
|
But upon listening to
Peter, Jesus had a totally different saying.
"Unless I wash you, you have no part with
me."
Peter was surprised by that saying.
|
12
|
|
So Peter told Jesus,
¡°Then Jesus, not just my feet but also wash my hands
and head.¡±
Peter loved Jesus very much, that¡¯s why he asked
him to wash his whole body if washing the feet is a way to be close with
Jesus.
|
13
|
|
What do you think that Jesus did after listening to
Peter?
"A person who has had a bath doesn¡¯t need to
wash his whole body. He only has to wash his dirty feet. As a whole body of
bathed person is clean, you are cleaned already.¡± And he washed the feet of
Peter.

Jesus washing the feet of the disciples was not
just to wash their feet but he showed the forgiveness of sins. When we
believe Jesus, our sin will be forgiven and we get salvation. But we are a
weak people who commit little sins every day. But when we confess our sins to
Jesus, like the washing of feet, he is washing our sins away.
|
15
|
|
And the Jesus returned to his place and said to the
disciples.
He said, ¡°like the way I served you, I wish that
you would be people who serve and care for others.¡± In this, like Jesus, who was
their teacher washing the feet of the disciples, he showed that we should
also serve others well.

|
Like Jesus washing the feet of the disciples,
everyone who is the children of God, is properly keeping the word of God when
we care for the difficult friends and help the bullied ones. I hope you will
become that friend of faith.
