Man
of God, Samson
2
Because you will conceive and give birth to a son.
No razor may be used on his head, because the boy is to be a Nazirite, set
apart to God from birth, and he will begin the deliverance of Israel from the hands of the Philistines." [Judges 13:5]
3
The Israelites left God¡¯s
side without hesitation and even served idols instead of following the words
of God and worshipping Him.
And God left the Israelites
when they started serving the idols.
4
The Israelites lived like slaves
of Philistia when God abandoned them.
They served Philistia for 40 years.
But God already had a plan
to save them from their agony.
5
Manoah and his wife lived
in land of Zorah.
But they didn¡¯t have a
child.
Their biggest wish was to
have a child.
6
And one day, the messenger
of God appeared to Manoah¡¯s wife.
¡°Soon you will bear a
child. And that child will save Israel from Philistine
You must not touch dirty
thing and unholy thing; indeed you must not drink wine nor strong drinks. When
that child born and grow up you must not cut his hairs. That child is a chosen
one of God.¡±
7
And the women told her
husband what happened.
When Manoah heard about
this he wished to meet the messenger of God.
So he prayed.
8
One day, God answered to
his prayer.
The messenger of God appeared
again
when Manoah¡¯s wife was
working in the field, but Manoah was not there.
9
She rushed to her home.
¡°Dear! The messenger of God
is in the field. Let¡¯s hurry and meet him.¡±
¡°Really? Then let¡¯s hurry
and meet him.¡±
Manoah was greatly pleased.
10
Manoah talked to him.
¡°Are you the one who was
talking to my wife?¡±
He answered. ¡°Yes I am.¡±
11
Manoah spoke again. ¡°If the
child is born as you have told us, how should we raise that child?¡± When the
messenger of God heard those words, he told him what was told to his wife.
¡°Your wife should follow
what I told her before. Anything comes from grape tree must not be eaten and neither
wine nor strong drinks are allowed. He must not eat anything that is unholy. She
must follow this word.¡±
12
Manoah talked to the
messenger of God with joy.
¡°Wait here for a while. I
will cook some food for you.¡±
He responded.
¡°I won¡¯t eat the food, if
you desire you can prepare a burnt offering
Manoah did not notice that
man was an angel of God.
13
The Manoah asked,
¡°What is your name, sir?¡±
He replied ¡°How
dare you ask for my name?
I am called as unexpected
one because I am much greater than you think.¡±
14
Manoah followed the word of
angel and sacrificed a young goat with some cereals upon one big rock.
And that time God showed
some miracles.
15
Fire rose to sky from the
altar. And the angel flowed to the sky with fire.
Because of this Manoah and
his wife faced the ground with frightened heart.
And that time they noticed
he was an angel of God.
16
As the angel had said, a very
strong and healthy baby was born.
They named him Samson.
Samson, he is a man of God separated
from other to save Israelites from Philistia.
17
As Samson was distinguished
from others as a child of God who was born with blessing. We are a people of
God who were saved by Jesus Christ with his blood. So as a children of God
who were been separated as a special one, we should behave and live a holy
life just like when Samson was young.
