The
Miracle at the Temple Gate called Beautiful
2
Then Peter said,
"Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you.
In the name of Jesus
Christ of Nazareth, walk."
[Acts 3:6]
3
Jesus was taken up to
heaven and the Holy Spirit had come in 10 days.
The people were filled
with the Holy Spirit and could perform miracles by themselves because the
Holy Spirit helped them.
4
The Israelites set the
time to pray to God. They made praying a habit.
One day Peter and John
were going up to the temple as usual.
5
Peter and John came into
the temple gate called Beautiful.
There was a beggar who
was begging at the door.
He was a crippled man
from birth.
6
When Peter and John were
passing by the beggar, he asked them for money.
"Let me help. If
you help me, God will bless you, please."
7
Peter and John looked at
him with pitiful eyes.
They did not have enough
money to help them.
But they wanted to help
something him.
They asked for help from
the Holy Spirit and went near him.
8
Peter said, "Look
at us!"
The beggar saw them,
expecting to get something from them.
9
Then Peter said,
"Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you.
In the name of Jesus
Christ of Nazareth, walk."
Peter said this to a man
who had never walked in his entire life.
10
Peter took his right
hand and helped him up.
Instantly the man's feet
and ankles became strong.
It was amazing. It was a
miracle.
11
The man was so pleased.
So he went with them into the temple courts.
He began to walk, jump,
and praise God.
12
The people knew the man
used to sit begging at the temple gate
called Beautiful, and
were amazed. "Wasn¡¯t the man crippled from birth?"
"Yes. That is
right. It is miracle."
13
The beggar held on to
Peter and John.
All the people were
astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon's Colonnade.
14
The people thought Peter
and John performed this miracle
So Peter said to them
"Why does this surprise you?
Why do you stare at us
as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? No, this is
not our own power."
15
"By faith in the
name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong.
It is Jesus' name and
the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him,
as you have seen."
16
Peter and John said to
the people that it was not their own power
but Jesus¡¯ power coming
through them.
They told many people
about how Jesus died on the cross
and rose again in three
days.
17
Peter and John were
normal people like us.
But when the Holy Spirit
was with them, they could perform miracles
like the crippled man
from birth.
The Holy Spirit is able
to do everything that we cannot do and even think.
18
Therefore we should have
the passion to preach the gospel like Peter
and John had done.
If we have the mind to
preach the gospel, the Holy Spirit will help us.
