Wear the Full Armor of God

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. [Ephesians 6:14-17]

Paul, the great disciple of God used to travel around the world and spread God`s words. And everywhere he went, he would build a church. And he used to send letters to the church, because he couldn`t stay at one place for a long time.

Today we will talk about the letter that Paul sent to the Ephesus’ church.

Jesus Christ died on the cross to save as from our sins. And we have received the gift of Heaven if we believe in His name.

But when we start to believe in God, Satan starts to attack us, because he hates those who believe in God. That’s why every person who believes in Jesus Christ’s name is fighting with Satan. We call this battle a “Spiritual War.”

And today, in the Bible story Paul tells us what kind of weapon we should have to fight with Satan.

This weapon is “The Armor of God”, and this tells us to be aware of the attack from Satan as if you are wearing a helmet, and have put on armor. Now let’s see what kind of helmet, armor, and weapons there are.

First, we need to wear the belt of truth. The army of Rome, used to wear very big belts, because the power to fight comes from the waist. And this “Belt of Truth” symbolizes the faith believing in Jesus’ name that will make us to go to heaven.

Second, the breastplate of Righteousness. This tells us not to do bad things and to do what is right before God. Whenever we do something we should think again to see whether it will be pleasing to God or not.

Third, we need to wear the shoes that are prepared to spread the Gospel of peace (meaning the Good News of peace). This tells us to spread the good news everywhere that Jesus Christ is the one and only living God.

Fourth, we need to have, “The Shield of Faith.”

Even though Satan attacks us every day we need to believe that we can defeat him and have faith in Jesus Christ. If we work with “The Shield of Faith” we can defeat Satan every time and everywhere.

Fifth, is to wear, “The Helmet of Salvation.”

A long time ago, people could tell the difference between other nations by looking at their helmet. Like this, believing in Jesus Christ and salvation shows us we can defeat Satan in the name of God.

And lastly, Paul told us to have the sword in our hand. The Sword is a weapon to attack. Bible tells us to have the sword of the Holy Spirit, which is The Word of God. Us, Christians who believe in Jesus Christ should prepare ourselves with God`s Word (The Holy Bible) and understand it to defeat Satan`s attack every time.

To use the sword well, we need to practice a lot of times, in the same way, we need to spend a lot of time to learn and use God`s word written in the Bible. So we can defeat Satan using the sword of the Holy Spirit to win victoriously.

To win a war, the army should have good armor and swords. Same as us, Christians, who fight with Satan, should always be prepared by wearing the full Armor of God. And that will help us to defeat Satan as written in the Bible.
