Noah made the ark by obeying God

[Genesis 6:14, 22]

So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out.

Noah did everything just as God commanded him.

When God created the world, the most wanted thing was to love the creator God and live happily by keeping and following the words of God. But, when Adam and Eve, who were the first people to be created, ate the fruit of good and evil and sinned they were driven out from the garden of Eden. As time passed, people got far away from God and did things that God was not happy with.

People, who were estranged from God, committed so many awful kinds of sins. They made idols and worshiped them, they even killed people and took others possessions and did many other evil things. Therefore, because of all of those sins, the whole world became a mess.

God regretted ever making the creation of this world.

And so, He set in mind to punish the world. So, God came to a man called Noah.

Noah was the only one who served God when all the other people were living evil lives. His family was a family of faith who offered sacrifices to God and tried hard to live by the words of God.

God spoke to Noah, “These people have filled this world with violence.

So I will sweep away this land and all the people with it. Make an ark of cypress wood.”

God told Noah to make a big ark.

After hearing God’s word and obeying the words of God, Noah started to make the ark. On a high mountain, following the sizes told by God, Noah’s family began to make the ark together with no mistakes. It was something they have never done before; they worked happily because it was the thing God wanted.

Noah and all of his family members became one heart and put all their efforts into making the ark. Modeling their father’s faith of obeying God’s words, they also obeyed the same and made the ark.

Seeing Noah and his family making the ark, the people thought Noah’s family was crazy. They would not listen carefully even when Noah’s family told them that God would judge the whole world with water. The people would not stop their evil ways.

It took 120 years to make the ark.

For 120 years Noah’s family made that big ark by obedience.

And finally the ark was done.

God spoke to Noah again, “Go inside this ark, you and your whole family and take seven of every kind of clean animal and two of every kind of unclean.

And also seven of every kind of birds in the sky.

After 7 days, I will send rain for forty days and nights.”

Noah did as the word of God said.

He let seven of every kind of clean animals to go in and two of every kind of unclean animals.

He also let in seven of every kind of birds in the sky.

The seven days God had mentioned, passed.

The big ark, made by Noah, was ready so God closed the door.

And from that day on, it rained in all the land.

For forty days and nights rain poured down.

The time when the flood started, Noah was 600 years old. All the people on land drowned,  except Noah and his family who rode in the ark. God judged their sins. All the people who ignored God were put into God’s judgment and died. Even the high mountains were underwater.

Only the ark of Noah was floating on the water.

God sent the wind and dried up the water.

The mountains and the land were beginning to show up after a long time had passed.

Right after Noah and his family had come out of the ark, they built an altar and worshipped God. God really hates sins. And God is one who surely punishes people who commit sins. But God protects and cares for those, like Noah, who obey the words of God and serve God properly.

So just like Noah, dear friends of faith, we should try hard to obey the words of God and do the things that God would be happy with even when our friends around us are doing bad things. Because God desires to protect and lift up people just as God did to Noah.
