Bartimaeus Cries out in Faith

2

"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see." "Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

(Mark 10:51-52)

3

Today, Jesus preaches the word of God to the crowd at Jericho.

So many people gathered to listen to the words of Jesus.

4

This event happened as Jesus was leaving the city of Jericho.

Jesus and his disciples began walking together with a large crowd.

5

There was a beggar who was blinded at the side of the road where Jesus walked.

This beggar was the son of Timaeus named Bartimaeus. Bartimaeus knew that many people were surrounding near him and passing by him.

6

And from the speaking of many people, Bartimaues noticed that the one who was passing by him was Jesus. Bartimaues shouted loudly, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"

7

The people who were surrounding him became startled and began to rebuke the blind man. "Keep it down! Why do you shout so loudly?"

However, Bartimaeus did not give up even though many rebuked him and told him to be quiet.

8

"Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me. Have mercy on me!"

This cry from Bartimaeus reached Jesus' ears. Jesus stopped and turned around.

9

Jesus looked straight at Bartimaeus who had cried out eagerly and said to the people, "Bring him here."

10

The people went to Bartimaeus and said, "Cheer up and stand up.

Jesus is calling you." When Bartimaeus heard that his face lit up.

11

He stood up and quickly ran to Jesus leaving behind his cloth.

Bartimaeus ran directly to Jesus.

12

Jesus asked him,"What do you want from me?

" Jesus wanted to hear from his own mouth his wish.

"Jesus, I want to see again." Bartimaeus told his wish to Jesus.

13

When Jesus Christ heard what Bartimaeus had wished for,

Jesus could see his great faith that he believed that Jesus could heal him.

Jesus replied, "Stand up and go, your faith has healed you."

14

Then a miracle happened and Barimeatus replied,

"Ah! I can see! I can really see! My eyes are beginning to see things."

Bartimaeus' eyes began to see which could not see a while ago.

15

The crowd who saw this happening honored Jesus greatly who had made Bartimaeus see. They were reminded once again that Jesus was the Messiah. Bartimaeus who could see now immediately followed Jesus.

16

Although Bartimaeus was a blind beggar, he had a definite faith that Jesus would heal him. Jesus saw his faith and healed him. Therefore, we should believe that God will make us to overcome all of our hard and difficult situations. I also pray that you would be faithful people, who like Bartimaeus, show great faith confidently.
