Jesus Rose
Again after Three Days Just as He had Promised
|
2
|
|
The
angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are
looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as
he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his
disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into
Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you." (Matthew 28:5-7)

When
Jesus was on the earth, he used to say that he would rise again after three
days.
Did
he really rise again as he had promised?

Jesus
died on the miserable cross at Golgotha which means The Place of the Skull.
When
Jesus died, amazing things happened, for example, the sky was darken, the
earth shook, and the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to
bottom.
|

|
|
The
people who saw these scenes knew then that Jesus was God's Son.
But
Jesus died and his body was wrapped by a very clean linen cloth and placed in
a new tomb of Joseph of Arimathea.
Then
a stone was rolled against the entrance of the tomb.
|

|
|
The
next day, the high priests who had killed Jesus were afraid that a false
rumor would start saying someone stole Jesus' body and Jesus rose from the
dead.
So
they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting
some guards.

|
|
Some
women went to the tomb in the early morning on the third day after Jesus had
died. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to apply perfume on Jesus' whole
body.
When
they arrived at the tomb, they saw an amazing scene.
|
8
|
|
There
was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord had come down from heaven,
rolled
away the stone and sat on top of the tomb.
|
9
|
|
His
appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.
The
guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead man.
|
10
|
|
The
angel said to the women,
"Do
not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.
He
is not here, he has risen, just as he said.
Come
and see the place where he lay."
|
11
|
|
The
place where Jesus had laid had been cleaned up.
Jesus'
body was gone.
Jesus
rose again as he had promised.
|
12
|
|
The
women who had found the truth came out of the tomb when suddenly Jesus
appeared in front of them saying, "Greetings! Go to your brothers and
say to them, "Go to Galilee."
I
will meet them there." The women were so glad to see Jesus again.
|
13
|
|
The
disciples who had heard from the women ran to the mountain that Jesus told.
They
met and worshiped Jesus who had risen again.
|
14
|
|
Jesus
appeared to Thomas who heard the truth that Jesus had risen again from the
disciples. Jesus showed "Doubting Thomas" his nail marks in his
hands and his side.
|
15
|
|
After
Thomas saw Jesus' hands and side, he said,
"You are my Master and my
God."
Jesus
had risen again after three days indeed.
|
16
|
|
Jesus
overcame every power of death we suffered by our sin and rose again.
Jesus
had defeated Satan and won the victory in the battle.
|
17
|
|
Now,
we as believers in Jesus, have received his power who won over sin and death.
We
also have the power to be able to win Satan.
Even
though Satan makes us distressed and give us a hard time, do not be
disappointed. I
hope that you become people who have the power of the resurrection as God's
children.
