Lazarus, Come Out!

2

<John 11:25~26>

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

3

Jesus often visited the village named Bethany.

There was a close friend, Lazarus with Jesus. Lazarus liked to talk with Jesus.

4

One day, when Jesus was passionately preaching the gospel, he heard urgent news from Bethany. "My Lord, Lazarus is sick and dying. You have to go now."

5

When he heard this, Jesus did not go to Bethany right away. "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory." Jesus said and continued to preach the gospel, he stayed where he was two more days. The disciples could not understand why Jesus had said this.

6

When Jesus was preaching the gospel there, Lazarus had died. Lazarus' sisters, Martha and Mary were so sad. They held a funeral in the tomb.

7

The fourth day, after Lazarus had died, Jesus arrived at Bethany with the disciples. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him.

Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. Why are you late? But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask."

8

Jesus said to Martha, "Your brother will rise again."

Jesus said even though Lazarus had died he would rise again.

9

Martha did not believe Jesus' words. Martha thought that Jesus said to her that Lazarus would rise again at the last day. Martha said, "I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day."

10

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies: and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" These words meant that the dead Lazarus could rise again.

11

After hearing Jesus' words, Martha told Jesus, "Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world." Then she went back to her house.

12

Martha told Mary that Jesus had came. When Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went to him. When Mary went there, many people came along with her.

13

When Mary saw Jesus she fell down at His feet and said, "If you had been here, my brother would not have died." The people gathered there were crying. When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.

14

¡°Where have you laid Lazarus?" Mary led Jesus to the tomb where lazarus laid.

Jesus saw the tomb and wept.

15

Jesus said to the people, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of the dead man said,

"By this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days."

16

Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?"

So they took away the stone.

17

Then Jesus looked up and called in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!"

Could Lazarus who had been dead for four days really rise again?

18

As soon as Jesus said, the dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. The people were very surprised. Dead Lazarus really had risen again.

19

Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave clothes and let him go." Many people saw Lazarus who rose again after four days praising God. Many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, put their faith in him.

20

Jesus is the master of our lives. So Jesus could make Lazarus who had been dead for four days live again. Jesus can show us everlasting life. If we are in faith, Jesus can solve our every problem. We should act honorably no matter what the circumstances are.
