From Abram to Abraham

2

(Genesis 17:4-5)

"As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations. No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations.

3

Do you know who had a nickname, he is called the father of the faith?
He was Abraham.
But his original name was Abram.

4

God gave a child to Abram and Sarai.
Abram believed that a great nation would come through that child.
When he was 75 years old, he could come into Cannan as he obeyed God's words.

5

However, they did not have a child for many years. So they could not wait any longer for the promise of God, so they had Ismael through Sarai's Egyptian maidservant, Hagar.

6

Abram and Sarai gave up having a child.
When Abram was 99 years old, God showed up in front of Abram.

7

Abram bowed down before God.
God told Abram a very important promise and something to practice.

8

God changed Abram and Sarai's names.
God changed Abram to Abraham and Sarai to Sarah.
Abraham means "the father of many nations" and Sarah means "the mother of many nations."

9

God said that Abraham and Sarah would make a great nation through their child and that kings would come from their offspring, too. Also, God said that he would give all lands where Abraham had lived to his descendants.

10

God commanded Abraham: "Every male among you shall be circumcised and a new born boy must be circumcised when he is eight days old. My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant."

11

When God said to Abraham that he would have a baby through Sarah about this time next year, Abraham laughed and said, "God, my age will be 100 years old next year and Sarah's age will be 90 years old! How can we have a child? If only Ishmael might live under your blessing?"

12

Then God said again, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him." When he had finished speaking with Abraham, God went up from him.

13

After God left Abraham, he did as God told him. On that very day Abraham took his son Ishmael and all those born in his household or bought by his money, every male in his household, and circumcised them.

14

God fulfilled all of his promises to Abraham.
When Abraham was 100 years old, he called his son, Isaac.

15

God kept his covenant that kings would come from the descendants of Abraham.
Famous King David is among Abraham's descendants.
Surprisingly, The King of Kings, Jesus was born from Abraham's line.
And we have been saved by Jesus.

16

God surely keeps his promises.
There are many promises for us in the Bible like God said to Abraham.

17

God surely keeps his promises written in the Bible like God's words were fulfilled to Abraham.
When we see things like miracles, we are reminded that God can do everything.
Therefore we have to believe what is fulfilled from the Bible.
I hope that you do as the Bible says and fulfill promises.
