Which of the two did what his father wanted?"
"The first," they answered. Jesus said to them, "I tell you
the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of
God ahead of you. <Matthew 21:31>

When
Jesus preached the gospel there were people who did not like it.
They
were the high priests, the Pharisees, and the elders.
4
They
showed up at places where Jesus preached God's words.
And
they always asked Jesus trick questions to get Jesus in trouble. But
it never went as they expected, so they hated Jesus even more.
5
Yet,
they thought that they served God the best by themselves.Every
time they opened their mouths, they considered themselves to love God and to
do as God's words had said. They thought that they would be the first ones to
enter heaven.
6
They
hated people like the tax collectors a lot and they thought the tax
collectors would never go to heaven. Others thought the same way, too.
7
Jesus
taught them how wrong that thinking was with this story.
8
There
once lived a father who had a vineyard in a town with two sons.
9
There
were many things to do in the vineyard.
The
father went to the first son and said,
"Son,
there are many things to do in the vineyard. Go and help."
10
The
first son immediately replied:
"Sure,
father. Don't worry. I will go to the vineyard and work.
Don't
worry about a thing."
11
The
first son only responded but did not go to the vineyard.
When
his father asked him later, he replied half-heartedly.
He
did not want to work.
12
The
father went to the other son and said,
"Son,
there are many things to do in the vineyard. Go and help."
13
Yet
the second son replied,
"No,
I will not go to work." He did not obey.
14
After
his father had gone, the second son's heart became broken.
"Why
didn't I obey him? Now I have hurt my father's heart."
So,
he realized his wrong and he regretted what he had said.
15
So
he got up and ran to the vineyard.
He
began working really hard to make up for the way he had hurt
his
father's heart.
16
After
finishing the story, Jesus asked the people,
"Which
of the two did what his father wanted?"
17
The
people replied to Jesus, "Definitely, the second son."
18
Jesus
said to them, "It is the same to go to heaven.
Whoever
has sinned like the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the
kingdom of God ahead of you."
19
There
is no condition to enter the kingdom of God. If someone confesses their sins
and accepts Jesus who came to the earth to clean our sins, anyone can go to
heaven. If you feel thankful for God's grace, you should be a good and
faithful believer following God's Will not your own!
