Let's Fix our Eyes Only on Jesus

2

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2)

3

In the Bible there are many people introduced that have great faith.
Just to name a few there are David, Daniel, Joseph and the Apostle Paul.

4

All of these men had a similar trait.
That is they never abandoned their faith even in a difficult situation.
Even in the worst possible situation they only looked to God and they won.
Today I want us to focus on their lives.

5

David was a person of great faith.
He believed nothing is impossible with God.
So he was able to defeat Goliath.

6

Even after he defeated Goliath he went to war and won to save the Israelites from difficulties; he was a faithful soldier. However, King Saul tried to kill this faithful David. So he ran away facing many dangerous happenings.

7

David had the chance to kill King Saul, but he didn't.
Because he knew that God would not be happy.
David was a faithful man who always looked to God in any situation.

8

We can also talk about another man of faith named Joseph.
Joseph`s brothers hated him for being loved more by their father.
So they sold Joseph to Egypt as a slave.

9

Joseph became a slave, who was not even considered to be a human according to Egyptian standards, all alone in Egypt. However, Joseph had the faith to only rely on God. Even in his life as a slave he looked to God and asked for help.

10

Even bigger difficulties came to Joseph. That is being called a fraud by the wife of his master and going to jail. Even inside the jail Joseph only looked to God and tried his best without losing his faith.

11

In the New Testament there was an apostle called Paul.
Paul traveled around the world to spread the good news about Jesus.
Everywhere he went he had difficulties.

12

He was even imprisoned unjustly because he was preaching the gospel.
However even though he was imprisoned he did not lose his faith and worshiped God. Even jail could not steal his faith.

13

When the church first started, just because they believed in Jesus they were seized and imprisoned and in even worst cases the Christians were thrown to fight with lions to their death.

14

At that time the Christians who believed in Jesus insisted on their faith even in danger of death. They never gave up their faith in Jesus Christ who died on the cross for them and gave them the present of heaven.

15

There are many countries that do not believe in Jesus Christ.
Some of these countries that do not believe in Jesus imprison the believers and in worst cases they kill them. However in any danger many of them only look up to Jesus and never give up on the hope for eternal heaven.

16

Those who have true faith will only look to Jesus even though people will try to destroy their faith and they will win like David, Joseph, the Apostle Paul and the early church members.

17

There are many things that will try to make us not to have faith in Jesus. When we encounter those things we should only look to Jesus and win against them like what we learned today. To all those who came to worship today, I hope we will win against all the difficulties and disturbances and be great people of faith.
