The Day and Hour Unknown

2

(Matthew 24:32-33)

"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.

3

There was a tree in the province where Jesus lived and in that province, that tree was very common. That tree is the fig tree.

4

This fig tree is a wild plant which grows in Palestine and in the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. The fig tree is a very intimate tree to the Jews because it can easily be seen in any place. In the late spring, this fig tree absorbs enough moisture, then the twigs get tender and the leaves become bigger. Then, soon, summer comes and the leaves get even bigger and it bares a lot of fruit.

5

Today, Jesus taught the disciples by using this fig tree as a model. "When the twigs of fig tree get tender and the leaves of it come out, people will know that summer is coming. Just like that, when the time of my second coming is near, things which you can notice my coming will happen, so don¡¯t miss them and be aware of them."

6

Jesus whom we believe shall come again to this world in the same image he was when he went up. But unbelievers of Jesus don¡¯t believe that saying.

Moreover, some people say that they believe Jesus but they don¡¯t believe that saying of Jesus.

7

About His coming, Jesus explained to the disciples through an example in the time of the Old Testament. Long ago, God told Noah that there will be a great flood because of God¡¯s judgment. Noah eagerly told the people that they will all die when the flood occurs.

8

But the people made fun of Noah and said that Noah was crazy.

Those people thought that a flood would never happen.

They did not fear God's judgment and they did whatever they wanted.

9

However, the great flood did occur and except for the 8 family members of Noah, all the people who did not believe Noah¡¯s saying, drown to death and not even one person survived. They encountered such a great consequence because they did not believe Noah's warnings.

10

Jesus has not told us the exact year, month or day of his second coming.

But he has said this, altogether, let us read Matthew chapter 24 verse 36.

11

But Jesus told in advance about the horrible thing that will be encountered by those people who don¡¯t believe this saying, people who live as they please and, people who are just like the people in Noah¡¯s generation.

12

There were two farmers. One believed in Jesus and the other did not believe in Jesus.

The unbeliever did not believe that Jesus was coming again.

13

One day, they were working hard in the field. That day was the day of Jesus¡¯ second coming. Between them, Jesus called the person who believed in Jesus.

The other man was not called by Jesus.

14

There were two women.

One believed in Jesus but the other woman did not believe.

15

Two women were eagerly grinding with a hand mill.

Then one day, Jesus came again.

Between them, the woman who believed Jesus was called by Jesus.

But the woman who did not believe was not called by Jesus.

16

On the day of Jesus¡¯ second coming, there will be a great judgment.

Believers of Jesus will be led to enter the eternal heaven and the people who don¡¯t believe Jesus will be sent to the eternal fire of hell.

17

When Jesus suddenly comes again, we, who believe in Jesus will greet Jesus unashamed and we will live eternally with him. In all our deeds, we should keep the words of Jesus and act according to them and we should work hard to please Jesus.

18

We, as believers have the responsibility to evangelize so that more people can go to heaven together with us. Let us become great friends who work hard to share Jesus. Let us share Jesus to friends and family members around us who don¡¯t know about him. Let us share to them so that we may all go to heaven together.
