God
saved Mordecai and the Jews
2

(Esther 9:31)
to
establish these days of Purim at their designated times, as Mordecai the Jew
and Queen Esther had decreed for them, and as they had established for
themselves and their descendants in regard to their times of fasting and
lamentation.

This happened long
ago when King Xerxes ruled over Persia.
King Xerxes had a queen who was a Jew. Her name was Esther.
4
In Persia, there was
a man named Haman Haman was a very evil and boastful man.
People were afraid of Haman so all of them knelt down to him.
5
But only Mordecai did
not kneel down to him.
Mordecai was a faithful man. He knelt down only to God.
He worshipped and praised only God.
Haman hated Mordecai so much.

To kill Mordecai and
the Jews, Haman lied to the king about the Jews.
"O King, the Jews don't follow the customs of this country. You should
destroy them so that your country may become one and get even stronger. If
you will allow me to destroy them, I will bring a lot of silver to you."

King Xerxes allowed
Haman to do what he wanted to do.
King Xerxes took off his signet ring and handed it to Haman.
Then, the king said, "Do with the people as you please."
Finally, Haman got a chance to kill Mordecai and the Jews.

The ministers followed
the order of Haman and posted notices in the whole country. The notice was telling the people to kill all the Jews, not minding young or
old, on a single day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month of
Adar. It was such a scary thing.

Haman and the people
of Haman wanted to kill Mordecai more violently so they made a very high
gallows. The height of the gallows was about 50 cubits. 50 cubits is higher
than 20 meters. For American listeners, that's about 75 feet high.
10
But a surprising
thing started to happen. One day, the king was not able to sleep so he read
the book that recorded the things that happened at his kingdom. Then, in that
book, King Xerxes found out one event that happened before. There were people
trying to kill the king but someone told about that to the king and that
someone was Mordecai.
11
So the king ordered
Haman to give a big reward to Mordecai.
The king put his royal robe on Mordecai and had him to be ridden around on a
horse and ordered Haman to shout, 'The king will do these things to those
people the king wants to lift up' and they went around the towns.
12
Haman became very
angry. Haman wanted to kill Mordecai but for that whole day, he had to lift
up Mordecai. Haman became very angry. Haman's friends realized that God was with
Mordecai but Haman did not realize that.
13
Queen Esther invited
Haman and the king to a feast. In that place, Queen Esther told the king that
she was a Jew and she also told that Haman was trying to kill her people.
Upon hearing that, King Xerxes got very angry.
14
The king found out
that Haman had made a high gallows to kill Mordecai so the king ordered the
servants to hang Haman on that gallows to kill him. In the end, Haman died on
the high gallows that he had made by himself.
15
Then, King Xerxes
took the signet ring from Haman and gave it to Mordecai and let Mordecai rule
over all the things that Haman had. God destroyed the plans of Haman and
protected Mordecai and the Jews.
16
Haman believed his
own power and tried to kill the people of God but God did not allow that plan
to happen.
God destroyed Haman and protected the Jews. And God lifted up Mordecai.
17
God is powerful and
almighty than any other people in this world.
If you serve God the best, God will protect you from any difficulties.
We should believe this. So from now on, lift up and praise God the best.
Believe and follow only God.
