God Fulfilled the Dream that He Gave to Joseph

2

(Genesis 37:9)

Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. "Listen," he said, "I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me."

3

Jacob and his family lived in Canaan.
Jacob had 12 sons.

4

Jacob's sons worked as shepherds. Joseph was one of the sons of Jacob. Together with his brothers, Joseph also took care of the flocks and when his brothers did something wrong, Joseph often told it to his father.

5

Among his sons, Jacob especially loved Joseph.
So he clothed Joseph with a beautifully colored robe.
At that time, a robe with several colors was very precious.

6

Joseph had all the love and attention of his father Jacob so his brothers hated him so much. They didn't even speak a word to Joseph.

7

Then, one night, Joseph had a dream. In his dream, Joseph and his brothers were binding sheaves of grain. Then surprisingly, the sheave of Joseph's stood up and when it stood up the sheaves of his brothers came and bowed down to the grain sheave of Joseph.

8

The next morning, Joseph told his brothers about the dream he had.
Then, the brothers got very angry. "What? Are you saying that you are our king?"  "Just because you are loved by our father, you think you will rule over us?" Because this dream of Joseph's meant that he would be higher than his brothers, they hated Joseph all the more.

9

But soon, Joseph had another amazing dream. In Joseph's dream there was the sun, the moon, 11 stars and his star in the sky. Then, the sun, moon and the 11 stars bowed down to the star of Joseph.

10

The next day, Joseph told his brothers about his dream. "Please, listen. Yesterday, the sun, moon and 11 stars appeared and bowed down to me." That dream meant that his father, mother and all the brothers would bow down to him.

11

This time, his father Jacob also scolded Joseph.
"What kind of dream is that? Do you really think me, your mother and brothers will bow down to you?"

12

The brothers hated Joseph so much. They even were very jealous of him. But, Jacob, a man of faith, did not think that Joseph's dream was nothing.
Jacob kept Joseph's dream in his mind.

13

To Joseph's brothers, he was such an eyesore so they did a terrible thing.
They received 20 silver coins and sold Joseph to be a slave of Egypt.
The brothers thought that Joseph really couldn't do anything.

14

But in any place, Joseph only relied on God.
God also stayed always with Joseph.
God made Joseph the Prime Minister of the strong country of Egypt.

15

A long time passed and a very serious famine occurred so his brothers went to Egypt to buy some grain. Then, they got to bow down to Joseph, who had become the Prime Minister of that country. God gave Joseph a dream and made it come true.

16

We plan many dreams. But even if we plan those dreams, God is the one who makes our dreams come true. Even today, God is looking for people like Joseph. God is looking for faithful people who will fulfill a dream for God's kingdom and God gives them dreams. I hope all of us will become faithful people who will have dreams that God fulfills.
