A Married Couple with Beautiful Faith

2

(Acts 18:3-4)

and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them.

Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.

3

In Rome, there was a Jewish couple who served Jesus very well.
The husband was Aquila and the wife was Priscilla.

4

They were tentmakers. One day, something very bad happened to them.
They were no longer able to make tents in Rome.

5

Because Claudius, the Emperor of Rome at that time, ordered all the Jews to leave Rome. The Jews had to wrap up everything they had in Rome and leave.

6

Priscilla and Aquila also wrapped up everything and went to Corinth.
There they met a very precious person.

7

That person was the Apostle Paul. The Apostle Paul was in Corinth to preach the Gospel. They met the Apostle Paul and they were greatly encouraged in their hearts.

8

But the more interesting thing was that they had the same job. The Apostle Paul was also a tentmaker. The Apostle Paul made tents to earn money for his living so that he could preach the Gospel freely without causing any burdens.

9

So they made tents together with Paul. The three of them worked very hard.
As Christians, they worked very honestly and made good products.

10

During their time, making tents was a high-leveled technique which could earn lots of money. But the three of them did not work to earn money to become rich or to have a luxurious life. They worked hard to earn money for preaching the gospel.

11

Aquila and Priscilla were so happy living with the Apostle Paul.
While living with him, they were able to hear many things about Jesus and their faith grew a lot.

12

On the Sabbath, the Apostle Paul went to the synagogue, where many people gathered, to eagerly preach the Gospel. Aquila and Priscilla always helped the Apostle Paul in preaching the Gospel. They also preached the Gospel to many people there.

13

They were kicked out from Rome so they came to Corinth with no choice but there, they met the Apostle Paul and became more faithful than ever. God changed their bad situation into a good situation, into an absolutely better one.

14

The two of them deeply respected the Apostle Paul and followed him. There was a time when the Apostle Paul had a hard time because of his eyes. During that time, Aquila and Priscilla even told him that they wanted to give their own eyes to the Apostle Paul. They were a great help to him.

15

Aquila and Priscilla did not stop helping the Apostle Paul even after he left Corinth. And they preached the Gospel to the people coming into Corinth. Among them, there also was Apollos, who was one of the great leaders of the early church.

16

Aquila and Priscilla were one in heart, one in preaching the Gospel and one in helping the Apostle Paul. They worked hard and they used the money they earned in making God happy. Like this, they became good models for other Christians.

17

Someday, we are going to get married and have a job also. On that day, just like how Aquila and Priscilla did, I hope you can become a family that is one in heart and that serves God very well. I also hope you can give all the glory to God through the work you have.
