The
Compassionate Heart of Jesus
2
(Luke 19:41)
As
he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it

Jesus came as a man
and lived in this world for 33 years. For His last 3 years, Jesus followed
God's Will and achieved salvation by dying on the cross.
Today we will look into Jesus' special work done
before taking up the cross.

Jesus was heading up
to Jerusalem. Jesus reached Bethphage and Bethany that is near the Mount of
Olives and gave a special order to two of His disciples. "Go to the
village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there,
which no one has ever ridden. Tell to its owner that I am going to ride it.
Then, untie it and bring it here."
5
The two disciples
followed Jesus' order. The disciples told the owner of the colt that Jesus is
going to use the colt then the owner handed over the colt. The two disciples
brought the colt to Jesus.
6
The disciples took
off their cloaks and laid them on the back of the colt. When Jesus rode into
the city on the colt, the people had an uproar as if they were welcoming a
king. They laid their cloaks on the way Jesus was going and praised God in
loud voices.
7
The people praised
Jesus like this. "Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!
Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!" The scene looked like
welcoming a king who had won a great battle.
8
But the Pharisees
were unhappy that the people were praising Jesus.
So they said to Jesus, "Teacher, scold your disciples not to praise
you."
9
These Pharisees heard
the gospel and they had heard about the miracles that Jesus had done but
still they did not believe Jesus. They were against Jesus so they always
disturbed what Jesus was doing.
10
Upon hearing the
Pharisees, Jesus firmly answered.
"I tell you. If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out." Jesus
was saying that even if the people were quiet, God would have used the stones
to tell that Jesus is the true King in this world.
11
Jesus approached
Jerusalem. Jesus looked at Jerusalem and cried.
12
Jesus said as He
looked upon Jerusalem tearfully. "Jerusalem, the days will come upon you
when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you. They
will dash you to the ground, you and your children too. They will not leave
one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God's coming
to you."
13
Jesus, who is God,
came to this world but the Israelites did not recognize Him, did not believe
Him, rejected Him and even tried to kill Him. Jesus cried because He knew
that Jerusalem would receive a great punishment for their sins.
14
Jesus, who shed tears
for Jerusalem, will soon come back to judge this world. On that day, the
people who do not believe in Jesus will be judged and will eternally live in
the fire of hell.
15
No one can avoid this
judgement. It won't matter how rich you are or even how powerful you are, if
you don't believe Jesus, you cannot avoid this judgement.
16
The only way to avoid
this judgement is to believe Jesus and to be saved. Believing Jesus means
that we won't be judged and that we get to have a wonderful Lord and Savior
who we can have a great relationship with everyday! We should realize that we
have received amazing grace and be thankful for it every day.
17
We got this great
grace but around us, there are people who still don't believe Jesus. Think
about the great judgement and punishment that they will receive and pray for
them with tears just like how Jesus did. And work hard to tell about Jesus to
the people around you so that more people can go to heaven before Jesus comes
back.
