A Samaritan Thanks Jesus for His Grace

2

(Luke 17:15-17)

One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice.  He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him--and he was a Samaritan.

Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?

3

This day is the day that we remember the Feast of Harvest.
The Feast of Harvest was one of the 3 most important events that God told the Israelites to keep no matter what.

4

The Israelites offered the barley that they had grown to God.
They offered that barley thanking God that He had helped them to harvest well.

5

Do you guys thank a lot? God likes and blesses the people who know how to thank.
Today we will talk about the leper who truly thanked God.

6

In Israel, lepers couldn't stay with their families.
So, they needed to go outside of the wall of the city.

7

Outside of the city's walls there was a place where lepers could gather around.
They covered their bodies with stripes of cloth.
They usually moved around at night so nobody would see them.

8

Between Samaria and Galilee there were 10 lepers living there.
Then one day they heard amazing news.
"Hey, Jesus Christ who can cure every disease will pass by here."

9

The lepers decided to ask Jesus to cure their disease.
So they went to where Jesus would pass by.
The lepers saw Jesus passing from far away.

10

The ten lepers shouted to Jesus.
"Jesus show pity on us."
"Jesus please show pity on us."

11

Jesus pitied them.
So he decided to cure them and said,
"Go and show your bodies to the priests right now."

12

In Israel, lepers were treated unclean so they were not allowed to stay together with the healthy people. So when lepers were cured they should go and show to the priests to be acknowledged that they had been really cured.

13

On the way to show their bodies to the priests their bodies were cured.
They were so happy. Jesus had cured them.

14

Among them one person came back to Jesus.
"Jesus, thank you for curing me." He bowed down to Jesus.
However, the other 9 lepers went on their ways and did not thank Jesus.

15

Jesus gave an even bigger blessing to the one person who came back.
"Your faith has saved you."
Jesus gave this person 'salvation' which is much more important than getting cured.

16

During the 6 months that have passed hasn't God protected us?! He has protected our families and He has provided the sun and the air and also He has given us all kinds of good food. God has allowed us to enter into the eternal heaven. We should also remember to always give thanks to Jesus like the one leper who came back.

17

Today is the Feast of Harvest.
Let's say to God in one voice who has protected us for the past 6 months.
"Thank you, God."
