Isaac
The man of obedience and concessions
2
Genesis 26:25
Isaac built an altar there and called on the name
of the LORD.
There he pitched his tent, and there his servants
dug a well.
3
Isaac was a person born by God`s promise.
Isaac was born when his father Abraham turned 100 years old.
4
Isaac was beloved since the time he was young. Isaac was happy.
But suddenly something happened that Isaac could do nothing about.
5
That was because God tested Abraham, Isaac`s father. God ordered Abraham
to give his son Isaac as an offering. Isaac followed his father to the
mountain called Moriah knowing nothing.
6
At that place, when Abraham tried to kill Isaac as the offering, Isaac
did not resist believing in Abraham, his father.
7
When Abraham was about to stab Isaac, a voice came from the sky;
" Abraham! Abraham! Do not harm your son Isaac."
God saw how much Abraham loved God.
8
Abraham and Isaac made the offering with the ram God prepared.
Isaac was an obedient person who followed God and Abraham`s orders.
9
Isaac was weak and easily got scared. When Abraham died and Isaac had to
lead the tribe, there was this incident. When Isaac and his family had a bad
year they went to Gerar to live.
10
Isaac`s wife Rebekah was a beautiful woman. When people asked Isaac,
"Who is this beautiful lady?" he would answer, " She is my
sister-in-law" as a lie. He was afraid that he would be killed if he
said, ¡°She is my wife.¡±
11
Fortunately, the king of Gerar, Abimelech, witnessed Isaac and Rebekah
as married when he was looking out of a window. So the king said, " If
anyone harms Isaac or his wife I will surely kill him." Isaac and his
wife were protected by him. Because God knew Isaac`s weakness, he protected
him.
12
God told Isaac to not leave Gerar.
Isaac followed God`s order and stayed in that land.
God made Isaac rich because he followed God`s command.
13
When the people at Gerar started to hate Isaac because of his wealth,
Abimelech told Isaac to leave. Isaac did not resist nor say anything and just
left that land. Isaac never argued in any situation.
14
The servants of Isaac found the well Abraham had made, they dug it
again. At that well water overflowed. Then the local shepherds came and made
unreasonable demands saying that they would use the well. Isaac gave up on
the well without saying anything.
15
The people did the same thing to Isaac at the second well. Isaac gave up
on the second well also. Fortunately, there was no demand for the third well.
The local people were scared of Isaac who was so kind.
16
When the king of that land, Abimelech saw Isaac only depending on God,
he began to fear Isaac. He went to Isaac and said, "Now that we have
seen that God is with you, let's make a covenant. We will not harm you, and
do well to you, also we will help you to go back safely. So you also don't
harm us. You are a man who God has blessed."
17
Although Isaac was weak and not so brave, he loved and believed in God.
God helped Isaac in every situation and made him a rich person. God will help
the people who worship God even though they are weak and not so brave. The
person this world fears most is the person who is obedient to God and who
doesn't fight with others.
